Make sure you're using RG-6 Coax all the way from your cable companies demarcation point into your modem. You'll also want to be very careful about hooking up any amplified splitter to a cable modem. There is the potential to fry the modem. If you do fry it, make sure you don't tell the cable company you had an amp hooked up to it when you call them for a new modem.

Oh yeah, If there's anyway you can get DSL do it! I've got both cable and DSL here at the house and our DSL provider is much more reliable and way faster than cable. My
