re: airline fingerprinting - anyone ever get fingerprinted in other non-crime ways?

all this airline fingerprinting stuff made me remember that back when i was around 8 or 9 in primary school they had one of those days where a member of the community or something would do a presentation - anyways the police came and did a police "show and tell" essentially harmless and informing the kiddies right.. but at the end of it and presented in a "fun" manner they let us get fingerprinted and essentially conned a class full of kids to give up their fingerprints!

It's not like it's particularly bad or anything, it's just a bit sneaky, a way for the government to get your prints through subterfuge before you're old enough to understand what it means. I wonder if anyone else experienced something like that.. I went to a catholic school - do-gooding bastards! |

Sell something in a pawn shop in LA and give a thumb print.

No shit. Sell cars in LA and give all print to the DMV. Work on Wall st as a computer programmer and give all prints and a polygraph and piss test. Join the army and give all prints. The story of my life. I bet if I ever actually kill somebody all the fucking prints will be lost though. Hummm. Think I'll amputate my hands and get two of those caption hook things and fuck some people up. Can the cops match hook prints? |

Where I used to live in PA the bank had fingerprint pads at all the teller windows, and I was fingerprinted a couple times on large transactions, no big deal.

As far as I am concerned they can install fingerprint machines on toilets, who cares about a 15 second procedure?

I did the finger print in high school.

I've also done quite a bit of the finger print security... data centers, my daughter's daycare, etc. And they took a finger print when I got my TX driver's license. |

I just got screened yesterday after entering the country again. It was pretty painless, left index finger, right index finger, smile for the webcam... but then they spent 30 minutes trying to figure out why the system told them a Czech citizen didn't need a student visa, althought I definitely need one.

After half an hour both the INS officer and his supervisor just gave up, and told me to just proceed to the baggage claim. Guess they'll hafta tweak the system a tad. |

wow, holy crap you guys get printed for a lot of civil matters, I remember seeing a thing on the FBI and hoover's push to "have every citizen fingerprinted" might have something to do with it.. it's relatively rare over here.. although you probably need to get it done for a gun license.

I was fingerprinted when dealing with my wife's immigration application. It pissed me off that they actually suggestively asked me if I had tried altering my fingerprints because they were hard to take.

Seems like there's a fairly large international group here (I'm new, first post here), but for those US-born, it was quite an eye opener to see how poorly the INS treats people. They're powerless, and treated accordingly. David webmaster greatgirls.com |
