Damn.. That is a tough question. I would have to go with Abbey Road followed closely by White Album then Sgt. Peppers.

Mean Mister Mustard wants to kick your ass!

I'm guessing no.. If they had the available technology today they would be easily more appreciated and respected.
Self righteous ass for an opinion..hmmm
You're right, I wasn't born in the 60s. I'm a 70s child.

But it doesn't matter what technology is available if you don't have the talent. Either you have the ability or you don't, though you can certainly improve upon what little you have, as the Beatles did as they grew and developed as a group.

Christ on a tin plated crutch, spunks, let it be. I love the Beatles, they're still my favorite group of all time. Just because I was honest about feeling that they weren't musical geniuses but song writing geniuses, everybody gets pissy.

Let me help just in case you just can't get your head out of your self-righteous ass.

The Beatles were song-writing geniuses, I'm not debating that. their various styles and diversity of thought were what made them great. Musically, though, they were better off letting water buffalo play the instruments.

They were not masters of their instruments, but they were masters of song. Make sense?

Damn, have a different opinion around here and it gets you fuckin death row.

Funny how this crap changed the world of pop music and it's still being played today.

So tell us what is your favourite album?

For me it's Sgt Peppers, I remember listening to it for the first time in the Youth Club in 1967 it just blew us away.

Magical Mystery Tour has always been a favourite but not an album.

I got the new cut of Let It Be for Xmas, still love their stuff.

I'm going to say this one more time. Pay attention.

My favorite band of all time is the Beatles. I love the songs. I do not think they were the best MUSCIALLY, because honestly, they didn't have much in the way of instrumental talent. It was their songwriting that I love so much.

So yes, as far as their instrumental ability goes, they were crap.

Moving on.....

I also like Flyod, Zepplin, Queensryche, and Dream Theater. Type O Negative comes in there as well, though they are no where on the same level as the afore mentioned.

Flame away. Just keep in mind that I'm sick, sore, tired, and thoroughly pissed off.

Proof of any performers "greatness" is their appeal in terms of longevity. After 35 years you guys are arguing about them, their are lots of different albums being offered as the best and they released a Greatest Hits album that immediately went to Number 1 and stayed there in most major countries.

They were entertainers and song writers, not great musicians. I think that as most here can whistle Beatles tunes. That in itself stands testimony to their talent.

The Truth Hurts
Yes it does, most of the people you are lisiting will be forgoten 3 years after their break up.

Hey sorry you are not feeling well Flame, I have no need for that different strokes for different folks. I'm more old school myself...I like the inovators...the people that were really creative...I believe you can find people to play the music but it is really tough to find people that create it

Between 1966 to 1972 we were totaly and utterly spoilt for music. It was a "Golden Age" for pop/progessive music.

We had so many groups with real talent to listen to. The music video had not been invented, the marketiing men did not rule the industry and bands would play in local halls and clubs so the average fan could see many in a year.

Beatles, Stones, Led Zepplin, Cream, Hendrix, Traffic, Floyd, Kinks, Who, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Free, Steppenwolf, David Bowie, Genesis, Queen, Simon & Garfunkel, Dylan, Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Ten Years After, Jethro Tull, the Doors, Moody Blues, Miles Davis, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Byrds, Buffulo Springfield, CSNY and I'm sure there were others I forgot.

As I said we were spoilt a "Golden Age".

Thanks Mr Hank, same to you and your family.

None. I'm a child of the 80's so I grew up watching Madonna, George Michael, Taylor Dane on mtv ... etc...

Besides, I only like pop music. (current pop like Christina, Britney and 80's pop) I don't listen to 60's music, I wasn't even born until the 70's.

Sorry but I don't like any of the Beatles songs I heard, not into that genre at all.
I think that's the kind of music my dad likes....

Hank, yes the music of that period built on the Rock & Roll/Blues from before. But in those days there was less chances to enjoy it. The 60/70s period was when we had the spendding power to dominate the market rather than it dominating us.

charly, did you listen to Aphrodite's Child? (Vangelis & Demis Roussos)

It's five o'clock
and I walk through the empty streets
thoughts fill my head
but then still
No one speaks to me
My mind takes me back
to the years that have passed me by

It is so hard te believe
that it's me
that I see
in the window pane
It it so hard to believe
that all this is the way
that it has to be
It's five o'clock
and I walk through the empty streets
The night is my friend
And in him
I find sympathy
thus so
And so I go back to the years that have past me by

It is so hard to believe
that it's me
that I see
in the window pane
It it so hard to believe
that all this is the way
that it has to be

It's five o'clock
and I walk through the empty streets
The night is my friend
And in him I find sympathy
He gives me day
gives me hope
and a little dream too

It's a toss up between the second side of Abbey Road and the second side of Let It Be for me.

"We were a tight little band."
-Paul McCartney

"I don't believe in Beatles."

If you listen to them, really listen to them play, you'll realize that many garage bands these days play better. Musically, they were utter crap. That wasn't their forte. Song wirting was their forte, and millions of fans pledge allegience to them above all.
you sound like the same type of person who says that skateboarders of today, and snowboarders of today, are better than those in the past.

BULLSHIT.

the people you see pulling off the same music (and tricks) today, would have no music (or tricks) to pull FROM, without the originators. without those to show everyone else the way. without the ORIGINALS.

love live John Lennon.

The best Beatles songs are timeless just like the best classical melodies.

I listen to classical music all day long. Chicken soup for the soul.

(You forgot Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, Puccini, Verdi and a couple of others).

I am also a child of the 80's..love 80's music, love punk, love metal, etc but my parents also made sure that I listened to 'oldies' so that I knew the roots of what I was listening to and playing.

I took some razing for it in school music class because I had dared hear of bands other kids didn't know existed. I remember being given a hard time because I knew the words to 'A Day In The Life'...I am sure the Vanilla Ice tape they were listening to was way more important

Anyway my answer: Revolver
Fave song though: Paperback Writer
