What's your favorite Beatles album?

For Beatles fans...

I'm guessing the majority will say Sgt. Peppers (considering the age group)

What's your fav.?

Theo 12-26-2003 09:37 PM

Sgt. Peppers too

Hmm, difficult choice, I like The Beatles Live at the BBC, but it doesn't have Hey Jude on it which is my favorite single.

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band definitely rates highly though.

that way I don't have to go through all the crappy shit they put out to find the good songs.

I grew up with Abbey Road, so I'll take that one. :) I loved Octopus' Garden.

Tie: white album and rubber soul

Sgt. Peppers is great and has great nostalgia appeal for me, but is a little overexposed for my taste.

oh boy.. the "good music" bandwagon emerges.

close your eyes, and LISTEN to the beatles, pretend it's not the beatles, and there's no peer pressure to try and seem 'cool' or 'hip' cause you listen to the beatles.

you'll realize.. they're fairly shitty.

JSA Matt 12-26-2003 10:59 PM

Wow, look at that one-track mind hard at work. Since when is it 'cool' to listen to the Beatles? A sterotype is all you got against the beatles?

no, i have nothing against them.
I like 1. and a few songs not on 1.
the actual albums themselves...
one or two kernels of corn mixed in with the overall turd.
most bands are like that.
beatles are no exception.

The White Album

And incidentally, the Beatles WERE utter crap. The only thing they really had going for them was their charisma and their song-writing gifts and talents. (Which they did have in abundance, drugs or no drugs.)
If you listen to them, really listen to them play, you'll realize that many garage bands these days play better. Musically, they were utter crap. That wasn't their forte. Song wirting was their forte, and millions of fans pledge allegience to them above all.

Tough question, I like them all :glugglug

The Truth Hurts 12-26-2003 11:19 PM

also if I was forced to pick an album aside from 1.. i'll take Abbey Road.

Come Together.. I Want You... Carry That Weight... Something... Because... Here Comes The Sun... You Never Gave Me Your Money... all good, the rest is junk..

Her Majesty gets a pass.. cause I saw Dennis Miller sing it somewhere... and Dennis Miller just fucking rules.

I like Revolver because that was their metamorphic album, when they truly broke away from bubblegum and defined themselves with unprecedented diversity of style as well as defined a few new styles. :2 cents: :thumbsup

So.....who in your opinion is not crap:helpme

Spunky 12-26-2003 11:30 PM

If you people actually lived in those days and not base your judgements on what was happening then maybe your opinions would have some merrit.
Thousands of musicians today were influenced by the beatles in one way or another.Saying that they were "Utter Crap" just proves your ignorance and you should open your mind to differant musical tastes

Enya - Day Without Rain
Korn - Untouchables
System Of A Down - Toxicity
De La Soul - Three Feet High & Rising
Blues Traveler - Four
Sublime - Sublime
Lords Of Acid - Lust

Get them all, and enjoy.

Re-read what I said. Read it well and divine the meaning from it.

Let me help just in case you just can't get your head out of your self-righteous ass.

The Beatles were song-writing geniuses, I'm not debating that. their various styles and diversity of thought were what made them great. Musically, though, they were better off letting water buffalo play the instruments.

They were not masters of their instruments, but they were masters of song. Make sense?

Damn, have a different opinion around here and it gets you fuckin death row.

Theo 12-26-2003 11:37 PM

Musically Beatles were far from crap. They were genius. The hardest thing in music is simplecity. It's too hard to make a nice simple tune that will stand above all. It's too hard to create melody. Beatles could do that. Stones could do that. Leave behind their playing skills and the lack of complicated tunes and focus on melody.

With A Little Help From My Friends
Penny Lane
Love Me Do
I Want To Hold Your Hand
All You Need Is Love
And I Love Her
Hey Jude

Were you even born in the sixties?.Did you know what instruments and technology were available back then?
I'm guessing no.. If they had the available technology today they would be easily more appreciated and respected.
