Best day and time to start auction on ebay?

Hey, this is for all you ebay pros. I need to sell my laptop (still brand new sealed in factory box) and I need to know what day and time is best for selling it.

Any other specific tips to get the most value?

Here is a link to the computer I'm selling:

HP zt3010us

Intel® Centrino? mobile technology featuring Intel Pentium® M processor 1.5GHz
? Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
? 512MB DDR SDRAM
? 60GB hard drive
? DVD+R/RW and CD-RW combo drive
? 15.4" WXGA TFT widescreen with wide viewing angle
? ATI® MOBILITY? RADEON? 9200 graphics
? SD/MMC digital media slot

Easy, your auction has to end on saturday or sunday between 1 pm EST and 4 pm EST.

Most people are at home and have a shopping crave. I've always been successful with it.

Start it on a thursday for a 10 day listimg - it will end on SUNDAY - the day you want it to end on, NOT Saturday.

My personal tips:

Start the auction at 1$ (insertion fee will be lower) and don't put a reserve on it, you will save money.

Put in your title something like : "HP 1.5 GHZ zt3010us Laptop Mint 1$ NR"

The 1$ NR is a seller, even if your auction is already at 500$.

Don't worry, your laptop will sell at very good price.

Reserve prices and starting the auction with a high price is how ebay is making money.

Another tip, take nice pictures of your laptop, don't put the ones you see on the web. It's gonna sell better that way. Don't ask me why! haha

Good luck.

5 days is quite enough. Doesn't matter if it ends on saturday or sunday.

I am doing something similar. Do you load all the info into the auction page or have a seperate page with facts. Does it matter? "I always want the auction page to load as fast as possible to increase bids" or did I get poor info?

Actually I would have to disagree with you. My experience was always that on the weekends the people who will try to win an auction closing on Friday or Saturday were those who would just put in a proxy and then leave to do whatever they planned for the weekend.

However on Sunday usually people have already spent Friday and/or Saturday night going to dinner movies etc...and Sunday is a day usually spent hanging out around the house resting getting ready for the next week...so what happens is I would notice more sniping going on at the end of a Sunday auction.

I sold alot of multiple items that ended on different days. Alot of these items I already had pretty much a "retail" price in mind so I was starting auctions 7 days a week and as long as they made that set price I was cool with it...but ALWAYS...those items would pull in more money closing on Sunday.

So let me sum it up for the originator of this thread.

Start the auction so it will end on a Sunday. Make sure you start it at a time so that way it ends around 9-11pm eastern standard time.

Why? Because if you do that then you catch those east coasters before they go to bed bidding one last time.

You catch those in the central and mountain time zones right in the middle of the evening, and you will catch those in the pacific time zone just as they start their evening.

I sell a lot of stuff on Ebay in my mainstream biz, and I've found it doesn't really matter the day or time. Just always make your auction 7 days so a of people see it and hopefully bookmark it. Also, a buy it now price never hurts.

I've always had the best luck starting and ending on Tue-Thurs 6-7pm PST. That's the best time for everyone to be home from work and not yet asleep, East and West coast.

according to my astrological calandar, in conjunction with the current location of the stars, I'd say best time to start a new auction on ebay would be:

March 28th, 2009, 5:07:21pm, EST

but what would I know?

One of the reasons you want your stuff to end on a Sunday night is ebay has the 'going going gone' list and a few othre lists like that. Plus when peep do a search the ending items show up first. So - your item ends on Sunday night it will be on those lists for the entire weekend - when most people go on Ebay.
