Fighting Spam Pays Better Than Sending It

Interesting figures...

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...=/cmp/16401194

There's money to be made fighting spam--more money than even spammers see on their bottom lines, a research firm said Monday

According to estimates by Ferris Research, which tracks the messaging market, revenue for vendors selling anti-spam products will be approximately $130 million in 2003 and soar 200% in 2004 to a whopping $360 million.

That's substantially more than the senders of spam see in revenue, much less profit. Revenue generated by spammers in 2003 will be roughly $130 million, said David Ferris, head of Ferris Research, while their profit during the year will range from $20 million to $30 million.

Not to mention the private class action law suits against spammers can yield $$$ in the hands of the right attorneys.

Indeed. I am just so sick of spam...and I am a pretty tolerant person.

just for shits and grins, on my msn email account I have had for years and years after they changed the layout this week, my junk mail folder is virtually empty on a daily basis. Maybe coincidence or they stepped some shit up over there. Its mainstream fuckin relax with the comments, just thought it was a welcome relief

I would have thought the profit figure would be a lot higher than that.

Yeah...those #'s are all guesses. I think more and more people are getting hip to the spam techniques.

But we've all seen spammers that make major bank, so who knows...

well thats kind of a deceptive argument as most of the spammers are selling the spam blockers

Havent you noticed that alot . When xp first came out and nobody knew how to turn of winows messaging , thats all they sold was " click here to stop this message from popping up " then it went to a site.

I use Spamarrest.com and when it sends the email to the people who mailed me for them to verify that they are a 'live' person it has my partner code in it incase they want to get info on Spamarrest.

I stopped all the spam and get a healthy check once a month from people signing up. It appears that even spammers want their own spam to stop.

that articles, as always... is totally incorrect...

i know at least 5 spammers who make more than 1 million dollars per year PROFIT... and i seriously doubt these 5 people account for 25% of the spam on the net haha

morons Always funny when people speak about stuff they don't comprehend! Numbers are way off... and I would not be surprised that 75% from the anti-spam income is generated by spammers themselves
