Most sponsors count 2th page. That means like your 1:500 = 1:1500.

I think you should always re-evaluate how you're advertising.. even on sponsors that I convert 1:5 on, I'm asking myself, how can I make that 1:3?

You should always be trying to better your methods, not just when your ratio slips to under 1:500.

I think ratios are mostly implied for people who dont know what to expect from certain sponsors.There are some sponsors I know are good for at leasta certain amount per period,and if it dips below then I evaluate my methods of selling the product and tweak it accordingly. I think the real clue to traffic is diversifying your streams from which it comes.There are many many ways and places to get traffic from,its once they get to YOUR site how you divy it out to the surfer

nothing is so black and white. depends where your traffic comes from. ie SE's are easy as fuck to convert while TGP takes some dancing to get the surfer to buy. also depends on what niche you are focusing on, for a rare niche that doesn't have so much free stuff floating around, it will obviously be easier to sell than say amateur or teen which has a ton of free site on the net. i used to convert consistantly first page traffic at 1:300. tho 2003 hasn't been good to me in terms of conversions. also such things as a poor economy has to be taken into consideration.

um what is you have hundreds of thousands of hits? you think you would really worry about 1:500 u know for fact you arent going to sell 1:500 to that many people. its like selling 100% of a product to a city. I DONT THINK SO. fuck ratios i want my money. (unless the sponsor totally sucks)

Man i couldnt agree more.

People bitch about conversions going down after a certian amount of time when they get their traffic from the same place everyday. "man i was a t 1:50 the first day now im a like 1:1000" well no shit man your showing the same people the same damn sponsor so of course you ratio will go down dumbass. what people fail to realize especially gallery submitters is that most tgp traffic comes from bookmarkers and trades that means the same people see the same sites and the same sponsors everyday. If you fail to keep your advertising fresh and rotate you sponsors based on where your serfers are comming from. You ratios will undoubtedly be poor.

A lot of people getting mails are new and/or aren't TGP savvy. Maybe web traffic would convert just as good as it used to back in 1997 like it does in mail these days, if the amount of free porn and never ending tours came to a halt

I agree. 1:500 is utterly unnacceptable. But unfortunately in some cases it's not the selling point or the quality of the traffic that is the key factor to the lack of success. Sometimes it's just a tour that refuses to convert. I'm not naming names but there is a program I push doing over 1:5000 right now. They are taking care of the issue as I am not the only one doing that horrible on it. Great sites, great company, just poor tours for a niche that is hard to sell to begin with. With the type of traffic I am pushing, targeted SE traffic, anything above 1:100 would make me shit as I never get that high on SE traffic. Using similar methods but targeted differently to another program I am doing 1:17

i agree, sadly its the rules we have to play by if you want to get listed on the tgps. i call it 'feeding the beast' lol. tho i remember back in 98-99 i had huge free sites with many galleries and movies for free which converted around 1:50 but i guess everyone was doing that back then.

it depends on how much you charge the person and if you get paid per signup and how much or partnership... but in a way yes if you can't convert on that level there is no money to be made for you in this biz

There's a small percentage of mailers compared to other traffic, but the ones that abuse it are the problem and make it look like a lot more people than it is. For example, I probably get 20 or 50 mails a day from the same person advertising the same thing, that's just ridiculous. I'm all for doing things as responsibility as possible and knowing moderation. Some people like to kill the goose that lays golden eggs
