If you would stop making up facts in your head or ideas about americans from what you are told by your government or see on t.v. you would quickly realise, you dont have all the facts.

Speak for yourself on this. As the typical Amercian does NOT think Bush is a good president.

1. The popular vote was for Gore, not Bush.

2. Copied from a news article just last week: "Bush's overall job approval was at 50% in the CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll, with 47% disapproving of his job performance."

For a comparison: Clinton *during the bullshit impeachment proceedings* had an approval rating of 89%. Most presidents are usually at 65-75%. Not only is Bush's rating low compared to almost anyone before him, for a president during a "war time" his is the lowest of any American president ever!

Btw - I posted some good things about US too and never said I dislike you.Its always the same - good people there and also bad people there , smart people there and stupid people there
Now your backtracking. First you come into a holiday thread about american values and insult all americans by saying things like " poor knowlidge of everything which makes you an inteligent person "

Then when i point out your mistakes, you start comparing czech's to americans . Then when i point out thats not a very good idea as czechs are far behind the world in many other areas, you start backtracking again and say your not comparing the 2.

Your right your standards are higher in some areas of education , in america we believe that everyone should have EQUAL opportunity to learn , not by weeding out the general populace to boost the privileged few.

Again you dont seem to have all the facts and again make a broad generalization. "typical americans".

Thanksgiving is a holiday WEEKEND , this would be 3 days or 4 even for almost every american.

You seriously have much to learn about doing business with Americans.

Most people in the former "Eastern Bloc" do. Trust me... I've lived in both the Czech Republic and Poland and I've seen all of it a million times.

Thats your reasoning? Ask any immigrant here and they will tell you what they think of Americans. This whole country is running because of immigrants, who come to this country to reach their goals and dreams, which you Americans would never reach and take it for granted. Thats not a problem, i always enjoy promoting companies that have good service and have treated me fairly in the past.

As any american would be , i was simply offended at your insult to americans in a thread dedicated to american values.

Poor judgement and an insult to americans.

I said "typical third world response" i didnt say it was a response from someone in a third world, i merely pointed out that the response was one that was typical of a jealous third world country.

I hope you are right. Wait until King George spends his huge war chest on sound bytes and uses his Presidential powers to influence the next election. I promise he will paint an image that a vote for whom ever runs against him is a vote against patriotism and the American way of life. He has some of the most masterful media manipulators on the planet working for him, huge war chest and a bully pulpit.

A snipit from a speech by the man who should be president given on 9 November.

"But President Bush has stretched this new practical imperative beyond what is healthy for our democracy. Indeed, one of the ways he has tried to maximize his power within the American system has been by constantly emphasizing his role as Commander-in-Chief, far more than any previous President ? assuming it as often and as visibly as he can, and bringing it into the domestic arena and conflating it with his other roles: as head of government and head of state ? and especially with his political role as head of the Republican Party.

Indeed, the most worrisome new factor, in my view, is the aggressive ideological approach of the current administration, which seems determined to use fear as a political tool to consolidate its power and to escape any accountability for its use. Just as unilateralism and dominance are the guiding principles of their disastrous approach to international relations, they are also the guiding impulses of the administration?s approach to domestic politics. They are impatient with any constraints on the exercise of power overseas ? whether from our allies, the UN, or international law. And in the same way, they are impatient with any obstacles to their use of power at home ? whether from Congress, the Courts, the press, or the rule of law.

Ashhahahahaha has also authorized FBI agents to attend church meetings, rallies, political meetings and any other citizen activity open to the public simply on the agents? own initiative, reversing a decades old policy that required justification to supervisors that such infiltrations has a provable connection to a legitimate investigation;"

I love that people are still whining about 'Bore' 4 years later.

If it weren't so sad, it would be downright comical.

You are indeed very ignorant if you think Al Gore and George Bush are cut from the same cloth. Educate yourself before you make comments that paint you as a fool.

The vast majority of Americans I know are fun, friendly, caring people with a lot of pride (good pride). There are some assholes, but it doesn't matter WHAT country you're from, you'll find those.

Of course they are not, one is cut out of a 'Presidential Cloth' the other...

Last I heard he was mending fences both literally and figuratively.

Speaking of Al Gore, Clinton may yet go down as one of the best presidents the US had. Articulate, funny, and intelligent, he deftly melded interpersonal skills with political savvy. It's really too bad about the impeachment thing. Unlike the other US president that got impeached, Andrew Johnson, Clinton's term in office will probably only rise in stature as years go by.

speaking from personal experience as someone from a foreign country

i find most americans to be nice people and not the stuck up self absorbed individuals they're made to be.
most thought the US is far from perfect but much better than other places throughout the world.
i met many who expressed huge interest in my country, who i was, wanted to see and learn as much as possible. of course there were the odd questions too quite often - like do we have trees or do we wear clothes but that's the exception and not the rule.
one thing that stuck out at me when i first arrived was how corteus they are. saying thank you all the time and how they'd say hello to you even as you're just passing by them.

Couple years ago, we were at Atlanta Intl Airport flying to Europe and this guy barely hanging onto his 4 bags running for his flight goes by us and actually turns to us to say hello, how are you. 8 hours later on the other side of the big pond nobody gave a damn, i couldn't get straight directions to where the passport check-in was, people would just snub you.

the highschool education needs to be reformed. i was a teachers aide my last year in HS and got to grade tests for 7-10th graders. handwriting aside, most of these guys and girls couldn't spell simple words even i picked up on them and when i first came here i could barely speak english, I had to look up words in the dictionary. a lot of students thought canada was in europe, some wondered if we had cars in europe or if we wore clothes.

the us is a nice country but the chirch has a lot of power. people seem to think it's okay to impose morals on others.

america is still racially divided too, at least from my observations. when i first came here i was told not to socialize with blacks. even white kids at school when i tried to talking to a black person they'd tell me later not to, i might get in trouble
blacks always seemed to become better friends with us international students.

my friend who came with me here, got married for a black guy and people didn't think too well of that

all in all i'd say most americans are good people, no reason to dislike them
