Good luck man... I'm needing to quit soon myself. Gotta get the balls to set a quit date.

The gf is a smoker too so I'd like us to set a date together... otherwise I question the chances of it being successful and I'm sick of TRYING to quit.

Time to shit or get off the pot, I guess.

Good luck! Your're kicking a bad habbit that fucks with your body as much as it fucks with others. I know it's hard to quit, but it'll be worth it in the long run!

well im not cranky but im acting fucking weird...lol...stress i guess and the witdrawal of it all.

I find it gets hard late at night when i enjoy smoking the most I guess.
Went to a concert last nite, thank god it was no smoking in that place cause I would have been so DONE!
I cant even be near the smell as it provokes all kinds of whackiness at this point...Guess it gona be like this for the next short while.
I also started the gym again after few mnths of not going...Only doing cardio for now just to kinda cleanse myself and eating better too....I also feel like I need to break stuff and punch shit thank god for the lil excersice in the morning or I would be very fucked!

Ill keep bumping this thread everyday with a lil update as long as I dont crack...Which I shouldnt.

Pretty much at this point your 3 days ahead of where you were n sunday so having a smoke now would just set you back another 3 days of pain & frustration!

Fuck it, keep strong and you will make it!

Good luck Tom. I quit 2 months ago. I woke up and said, im not going to smoke anymore and stopped. I smoked 2 packs a day and have smoked for 12 years. THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL QUIT IS WHEN YOU WANT TO. Do not quit just becuase everyone else is doing it or asking you too, you have to want to quit yourself. It is not hard when you really want to quit. The only thing that helped me take the edge off the first couple days was gum. I worked out alot (lost 20 lbs.) drank alot of caffine and banged the shit out of the wife to get all my extra engery out ;)

Good luck to all here, you can do it!

The morons making jokes in this thread should think about the fact that nicotine is a legal drug addiction that will will 5 million people a year. Next time you light one. Think about the millions of families that suffered from tobacco last year..
On the day of Bryan's death, June 3, wife Bobbie and son Bryan keep a bedside vigil. The recent photo of father and son is on the bed.

Bryan Curtis started smoking at 13, never thinking that 20 years later it would kill him and leave a wife and children alone. In his last weeks, he set out with a message for young people.
When I first read this article, I decided to quit smoking.
Yes I bought a pack, haven't had one yet, they are sitting here on my desk unopened.

At least this way when I am ready to give up, if I do, I will have them right here and won't have to run out at 3am and get some.

It's a proven fact that the average smoker tries to quit 12 times before succeeding.

well, i can see you will be lighting up soon enough since you bought the pack, so I guess you already made a choice.

seiously consider not lighting up tho man.
its an endless battle, you need to try and keep so fucking busy that you dont even have a chnace to light up..hell i havent smoked anything in 4 days and I usually smoke a pack and a couple spliffs a day. Do some exercise while your at it....in 5 more days you will feel alot better and i mean a hell of alot better!

It will still hurt but it will dimish a little...it will always be a struggle tho, best to keep that in mind.
The only time i have been craving a smoke is late a t night cause i cant fuckign sleep anymore..waking up in cold sweats and shit...
o god what a nightmare, fuck i cant even relax anymore and its only been a few days.

btw i have quit 3-4 times before but never for more than 6 mnths... i think im done tho, my mind wants it - so it will get it -

btw

Fight The Cravings and good luck!

Valerian and St Johns Wort are a good natural help to relax your
jaw and get rid of the constant tension of the crave. Once this
has past the rest is fairly easy, just gotta never smoke ever
again... ever again... ever again.

Make sure you get quality extracts tho, most pills are just a scam
with nothing much really in them. Thursday Plantation here in
Australia has great quality stuff.

p.s. Don't take St Johns Wort with party drugs. It's kinda like an

Hell go places you cant smoke and keep busy, im telling you when your busy and dont have time it helps ease the situation and the time passes.
Try going to the movies twice a day if you have to lol...( cant smoke there)

It doesnt make it easier but it does make time lapse faster and hours turn into days...next thing you know its been a week...
Ive been craving like mad, but i just wont give in!!!!

i saved 40$ already in 4 days!
hell that like 4k a year!
tobacco companies dont really need my money to make money, but they sure are lining it their pockets well with everyone elses little daily contribution...

ps i still have half a pack of smokes at home, so having them doesnt mean you need to smoke em...keep that pack closed and your hands and minds BUSY!

I did over the past 4 days of not smoking figure out the perfect honest quit smoking slogan there is:

"Stop smoking today so you can eat yourself to death instead"

What fucking good is it if you quit smoking only to eat yourself up to 500-600lbs and then die of a heart attack?

No plans on opening the pack of cigs I bought unless the wife pisses me off good then I will smoke one;)

COLD FUCKING TURKEY...

Nicotine is the most addictive substance known to man.

I've seen junkies quit smack and crack and do okay but you try to make them stop smoking and you've got a fight on your hands!

Smoking should be outlawed. Plain and simple. But because he tobacco companies funnel so much money and dumbass trailer locals say stupid shit like,

" Tobacco put food on the table! "

Fuck that.

I had to go through a 3 step plan to not stop smoking but to CONTOL it.

I can start and stop and that's the big first step. I can do without them and don't chain smoke. Controlling your habit is the first big step to stopping without going nuts.

Take a notepad with you and jot down WHEN you smoke. Time etc. Then jot down WHY you just smoked ( i.e. had a great meal, got pissed off etc. ). If the answer is emotional like anger, stress then it's compulsive. That's the dangerous cycle. That gets you because you do it on reflex instead of choice. It's your body craving it to the point that it's beyond your concious control, the most dangerous of habits.

So you have to first CONTROL when and why you light up and then gradually wean the body to enjoy NOT smoking so that the body will then reject everytime YOU do.

Once control is established you're on your way to either cutting back greatly or stopping cold turkey.

I quit smoking 2 months ago.

Its very simple.

To be able to quit you have to stop saying "That wont happen to me" or "I wont get cancer till im 70" etc. You have to take the threat to your health very seriously and realize that if you dont quit your lifes going to be cut short and you're going to die a very slow and agonising death in your 30's or 40's.

After you've taken that threat seriously enough, quitting is easy.

I used the nicotine gums to help me quit.

Also I stopped drinking coffee indefinately, and alcahol temporatily.
If you want to quit you really want to stay away from alcahol & coffee.

I am already 36 and I have smoked for 25 years now. Coffee is my substitute right now for a cigarette, I only drink 2 cups of coffee when I egt up and then sometimes 2 cups in the evening, but not always.

I am not getting better myself, the cravings seem to increase not decrease, my body feels as if its hot and sweating but I am not sweating.

I am trying to hang in there but its not getting easier day by day like people say it does, it gets worse day by day, teh first day was so easy, the 2nd day was a little harder and now on the 5th day its fucking crazy ass hard.

hmmmmm, was jsut adding it up....

I have smoked 25 years, I smoke an average of 30 cigs a day (1.5 packs) and at todays prices it would have worked otu like this:

$30.00 per carton x 4 cartons a month x 12 months a year x 25 years

$1440.00 a year x 25 years smoking = $36,000.00 spent on cigarettes

Not to mention the cost of lighters

I like this quest to give up smoking I have joined the battle as well...no cigs for me all day today....

When I saw the picture of that guy dead that kinda shocked my bollocks off...plus the girl in the off license has put up a sign by the cigarettes "Why not try one of our novelty life threatening products - Give these a bash and maybe you will catch cancer" - I hate buying cigarettes off her...

when i was in the states a month ago the packs where about $4.50-$5

according to his calculations tho they are 3$ cause theres 200 cigs in a cartoon and 10 packs per US carton.

In montreal right now they cost between $8.50 to $9.50 depending where you are. Fucking expensive if you ask me...

well having a pack of cigarettes right in front of you would certainly make the cravings worse. You say well I dont want to freak out at 3am and have to drive, but that drive might just help you quit.. I know I couldnt quit until every last cigarette was smoked, and I couldnt be around them for atleast a month.

I think coffee is a bad thing to be drinking as well, I believe caffiene and alcohol make the cravings stronger

$2.89 to $3.49 per pack depending on what brand you smoke. I usually get Camel Lights Box for $2.99 to $3.29 per pack or $28.00 per carton.
