Outsourcing Jobs: America Losing Power?

*first thread start ever, in any forum!*

The thoughts of outsourcing jobs have been running through my head recently...

Do you feel America is losing power by outsourcing jobs? This applied originally to manufacturing and production but now is slowly rolling over to more and more parts of the service sector, and is ABUNDENTLY apparent in our industry, IT. I even have a client now who is headed to Romania to start a software development company, utilizing individuals who will do $4,000 projects for $100.00.

Some opinions hold onto the idea that..

"Every job outsourced overseas, America looses a small part of their world power"

All in all, it seems that as the American middle class begins taking lower waged jobs (an experienced technician or entry level programmer making $20 per hour now can lose a job to outsourcing and take a job for $9 at Wal-Mart), American outsourcing actually DEVELOPS in some way, a new middle class in another country. This, in effect, hits America from two angles...by losing an American job, which lowers the American per capita/overall GDP, as well as giving a small bit of that income to another country, in effect losing a portion of ?power.?

Already there is a dent, as I'm graduating from college in 6 months and it seems retarded that I ever went. The numbers of college students increases and increases and job opportunities get fewer and fewer, seems ironic? Companies are now starting to outsource you tax services, i.e. foreigners handling our complex tax forms at the end of year. Have we gone mad?

Either case, if America wants to hold power, seems as though some serious political intervention is necessary to restrict outsourcing to keep American corporations competing directly against one another, not a race to save costs by any means possible. This would raise productivity, increase government revenues from taxation, create more efficient pricing wars, etc? Pre-civil war political intervention in terms of European control over shipping?.ring a bell?

Outsourcing is not that big of a deal. Got that. It has been hyped up by political skanks, nothing more.

You see, insourcing (what I call bringing brains into the country) has been going on for more than 10-years now.

Why?

Because our public schools are turning out drug dealers and gangsters, who can kick anyone's ass and they can prove it. They have, after all, been killing each other and the teachers for so long, they don't know anything else.

Hence the idea of work-visas for the importation of brains from countries like China and India.

It's to late now to turn back. This was planned many years ago to raise the standard of living in other countries at the expense of the us middle class. It's just not fair that we have so much and the rest of the world so little or so the story goes.
If you go to college major in math or science or you're just wasting time and money.

My mind was never "out of ease," i don't play on gettin a job anyhow but just curious as to what the GFY'ers had to say...

but i do agree with you, the problem IS blown up to a certain point, but still something I think needs to be addressed whether for or against...and an new/interesting little feature to manipulate economics.

I think you got this all wrong, there is nothing wrong with outsourcing and if we do anything to stop it we're only hindering progress / technology.

If you honestly think that Indians 10,000 miles away can do a better job than the IT guys you have at your company, guess what you hired a bunch of morons. The real admins/systems analysts and complex application programmers are still going to reside here. The TGP Submitters of the mainstream industry will be ported overseas and we'll see more people go on GFY cuz they're out of a job.

Apparently you have no idea about what you just wrote. When you get a chance, look up the names of most of the people behind open source projects. Tell me if you see more Americans on these projects than foreigners.

American society is dieing, but it isn't because of outsourcing, its basic respect. There is just more respect in a Chinese, Indian, or Japanese classroom than there is in an American one.

Students are more motivated to learn in those countries.

out sourcing is a nice way of saying "sending jobs somewhere else". It happened in the blue collar sector long ago and now American kids grow up thinking any kind of labor job is below them, but guess what? now white collar jobs are being outsourced so theres soon gonna be none of those to be had either. Its killing America.
