I was gone less than 20 minutes and came back to find my laptop, digital cameras, cell phones, etc...........GONE. From witness accounts that didn't know that I was NOT friends with the guy that broke in, saw him enter, saw me come.... I sat on the couch and was chilling for a few minutes before I noticed my computer gone and went downstairs flipping out.... then he was seen leaving. I WAS IN THE APT. WHILE HE WAS HIDING IN THE BEDROOM!

Everything he didn't take is covered with that black finger print dust........... It's been a fucking nightmare. I got about 2 minutes of sleep lastnight.

Side Note: For those of you used to me helping after hours or on weekends, I don't have a home computer anymore so you'll have to get me during office hours.

After watching other people's houses getting broken into and my garage (where my brand new 19k Harley was stolen) I decided that I would never live again without cameras everywhere. You don't need anything special to get the job done, just setup a server (unix here) with some big hd's to record 12 hours or so backlog.

I live in the middle of nowhere but my landlord insisted I get renter's insurance on my house. So for $500 a year I have $30k coverage on my computers and furniture and other stuff. Unfortunately it can never replace the things actually on my computers.

Nothing makes a person feel more violated than a break-in. I was broken into a couple years ago. I chased the fucking homie off but the fact that he had the balls to break into the house while I was sleeping was enough to put me into a rage. What pissed me off even more is I knew who it was, told the cops, showed proof, the bastard is still walking the streets, in fact, I see him at the corner store quite often. I told his mom he better not catch me in a dark alley as he will most likely end up in a full body cast. Ironicaly.. her response was "Good! He robbed me!"

I was a week away from getting my renters policy.... what is even more fucked up is that he had stolen my keys so he still has keys to my car and right now getting the ignition and 4 other locks re-keyed to a new set isn't an option for me....

Next time the burglar's struck, he shot one of the mofo's dead.

I've had cars broken into and after we built our big house in LA, someone tried to break in while we were out for dinner only a couple weeks after it was done being built and we had just moved in. Luckily they were too dumb to read our "WARNING - ATTACK DOGS" signs or didn't believe them.

They broke the lock on the pool door and from the looks of all the blood on the floor, when the guy had his arm reached inside the door to try and snap the door chain, that's when he got to meet and greet my 3 German Shepherds. We found pieces of his shredded shirt sleeve on the floor as well. Don't know how badly his arm must have been mangled, but we could see the trail of blood going back out into the woods.

LESSON:

ALWAYS HAVE A BIG, BAD SHEPHERD, ROTTIE, OR THE LIKE TO HANDLE GREETING UNEXPECTED GUESTS AT YOUR HOME!

That is fucked up... It always sucks to hear shit like that happen. You weren't as lucky as I was. About a week ago I came home to see my door frame ripped to shreds. They made off with a pair of head sheers, and a small bottle of Oxy Clean laundry additive. I know this was aq friend of mine, since it was his shit.

I truly was afraid what I would (or wouldn't) see when I opened the door. Sorry to hear about your things. Too bad you didn't catch the guy. It would be nice to see a pic of his nuts strung up to a tree.

The police think he lives in the complex and was waiting for me to leave otherwise he would not have known that short window to get into my place. I assume he thought I was gone when he came back because my friend drove off to the store and I turned the lights off.... and to answer your question, yes I heard it from bed and that to make sure I wasn't paranoid walked into the living room where I heard it very clearly.

AND BTW.... The Son of a bitch is using my computer right now because we were in a war of "you've logged in at another" computer with my AIM this morning a few times until I kept my connection long enough to change the pass......

If you ever catch dude on AIM again sign up as a newbie, send him an IM, then drop to dos and do a NETSTAT -AN and it should give you his IP address, then go to ARIN's website, look up the IP, call the ISP, get the caller ID for whoever is using that IP address, then call the cops, give them said phone number.

That sucks. My (parent's) house was broken into twice. The first time we were on vacations and when we arrived we found EVERYTHING packed up on the garage. The fuckers were going to CLEAN our house. They run out thru the roof with some jewelry.

The second time it was on a December 31st and they stole 2 tvs, 2 sound system, VCR and some other stuff. We were out for just 3 hours.

Just this year some fuckers stole 2 cd players off my brother's car while on the garage.

Some months ago someone tried to enter my girlfriend's (now wife) house when everyone were sleeping, but her dobermann scared him out.
