If you ask me there might only be 20 guys who can send some sales. or who are big whales.

the guys who have 5 mill cashed out already.

when a company cashes out they don't pay webmasters etc.
so its all profit. without going into detail
Good point. And we both saw the crowd there, there was maybe what, 6-8 webmasters, the rest were all the other big affiliate programs... and times are changing so we gotta see how this all plays out.

Quiet you have a differant model then sponsors.

for instants and I'm not bragging if I were to cash out now.
and stop puting money back into the company and not payout webmasters in less then a year I would have 10 mill in an acount no prob.

Do you know what I mean. But there is only a few who can do it cause most big guys already did one example babenet.

sometimes when a company goes out of business its not because they fucked up it's becasue they cashed out.

i understand the different biz models (in general). i understand mine the most of course

even for myself, there is no easy way out. i have to sell to get out, since i if i let sales drop, my cb ratio will get fucked up.

the difference is, i have millions net right now. i haven't scammed anyone, and i never will. even if i wanted to, there is really no one to scam, at least for any significant amount of cash.

i'm sure i'm not remotely in the same league as you, or anyone like you. i do well though, and i seem to only do better.

We should talk sometime I know we have said it before just never get around to it.

From what you say you are doing great and are in the top 20

Maybe we can both educate each other. I would like to understand your model better maybe I can help.
we are way under 1%

Assuming you did your homework, that money is as safe as in any bank, but is yielding 70-100% annual returns and not 4%. In MY opinion, that is still hard cash....other opinions may differ...

Of course, this is all theory....I took out a loan for the bar tab tonight.....

I mean, I would go buy a Kart/F3000, race a few time a weeks, play computer gamers as a professional (traveling and trying to win prizes), open a bar, read books, write stuff, think, motorcycle, traveling, buy a boat, whatever man... bottom line is that Golf is just plain booooring

He is 100% correct but based upon the time frame the statement was made, 100 mil minimum nowadays.

1mil isn't shit, once you get there you realize it isn't enough to retire on (living large).

10mil is nice, but again, you are in the minor leagues of millionaire status. You can impress your childhood friends, but you are not a big player.

I have hung out with the $100 mil to the $1 billion crowd (for those of you who watch HSN - hint) and when you have your own jets, yachts, houses worldwide, and 100 people+ on payroll that you have never met you have reached player status. These are the people who pull down millions a year just in interest.

Quiet,

2 mil in cash is not doing much for you. You should buy more real estate.
Trying to do that myself as interest rates just suck shit right now.

Roger, many of us "could" do the same thing, EXCEPT. CB issues, we need new transactions. Also, hard to have traffic coming in, if you are not outlaying any cash. I think the key is to find a good balance of taking $ out of the company, while still procuring your business long term.

I agree for the most part.

But there are ways to get around the CB issues and ride it out till the well runs dry

that's kind of a stupid question, especially since my sources tell me nobody in our industry does 10 million per month on their affiliate program for membership sites....

and if we *are* talking about per month here, then 10mil NET (after taxes and shit) is not happening in our industry, not even for the big guys.

For this industry I'd say so. In the real world no not even close. Most corporate execs still on the treadmill have that amount of wealth. The guys running the shows are at 9 to 10 figs now.

Forbes estimates 427 Billionaires in the world for 2003. Although there are a lot of folks who stay just below Forbe's radar. Its probably at least 5 to 10 times if you count combined family wealth.

Like they always say Bill Gates is the richest at $40Bil. But if you group the main Walton family members together they are at $150 Billion as a family (Wal-Mart). Making Bill G look like chump change.

There are a lot of old line families in the US like the du Ponts who pretty much control the entire state of Delaware who don't get mentioned that much because the fortune has been divided up into thousands of offspring. But combined its way way up there.

Same thing with the Rockefeller family. Enormous and vast wealth but they only peg the main family members at a Bil and some under.

Speaking of billions, the WSJ reported today that the McDonald widow left 1.5 billion in a one time payout to the Salvation Army. Earlier this year that same Mcdonalds widow left $200 million to National Public Radio.

Supposedly its the largest single charitable gift ever, although Gates will probably have that record one day. He is on record as saying he will only leave his heirs a small part of his fortune and he plans to use his money to change the world.

yes i heard that as well. however, i'd also heard that he'd already set up the largest charity the world has ever seen.

10 mil is more than enough to live nice for life in really safe investments.

but to be a player you need 500 mil this way ya can make 20 mil a year easy money or if ya risk it 50-70 mil a year....

that lets ya buy 20 million estates in several continents and places on the planet and the jet to fly to them all and the staff to cater to your needs.

but thats only if ya want that kinda life..

the more you make the more isolated you get

meaning its harder and harder to make and keep true friends

everyone is always riding your jock to see what they can leach off ya

this point has been brought up before - its all relative to the lifestyle you live and want to live.

personally I can't wait to have the capital to start delegating this workload. I'm a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to webmastering but I am more of a scope and vision guy.

correct
only way to avoid those problem is to not let everyone see what big player you are.
be silent
don't feel special - its only money
don't be too arrogant and you will have no problem with friendship and isolation

what people nowadays should start to learn is that money is not everything

a lot of people - especially in this industry - should learn how to stay on the ground

as far as the 10 million player thing goes
even 5 million net make you a player in this biz for sure
there is no doubt on that

doesnt make you the biggest guy
but a player for sure

In some businesses you can be an important figure with much less than $10 million. In others, that kind of money barely gets you in the door. Adnan Khashoggi used to be one of my clients and he apparently lost $10 million just through his involvement in the Iran/Contra arms affairs. His 1982 divorce supposedly cost him more than $800 million
