Non-Americans, are you jealous of the USA?

Whenever non-Americans disagree with Americans the usual response is along the lines of: "You're just jealous of our great country!" or "You'd be living here if you had the chance!"

Well now is your chance to have your say. Are you, as a non-American, jealous of the USA or their lifestyle? Do you wish to revoke your own citizenship to go and live in the USA and become an American?

Note that this is not a poll because we'd have all the Americans voting that we were jealous of them.

I'll be first. No, I am not jealous of the USA nor do I wish to become an American or adopt American values.

So come on all you foreign scum with your funny food and strange cultures... SPEAK UP NOW!

I've lived in many countries (including the US).

There are parts of the US I could see living in long-term, but not everywhere.

For example: Hawaii is alot different from Kansas, Seattle is waaay different than Miami. Alaska is nothing like Arizona.

Some parts of the US are Jerry Springer, some are Beverly Hills 90210.

It all depends on the person and what it is you're looking for in a place to live.

I like all modern western countries, I prefer some more than others, and I've been to almost every western country in the world.

It also depends on how old you are too, I'm in my 20s and I think Australia is the best country to live in during your 20s. It's the best place for partying and meeting new people. If I was over 40 years old and had kids maybe I would choose Canada (BC).

If I was over 60 years old maybe I would choose New Zealand.

Its all good. Keep on rockin in a free world!

You actually expect legit responses when you lead off with ignorance like this? You're just as bad as those you claim to hate.

I lived in both Australia and New Zealand,
and iŽll take Australia anytime of the day.

Yes, New Zealand is like this huge retirement island.
I see myself in there, getting drunk at a pub at the age
of 65, nagging about the bad back, the wife and the grandsons.

Are you in Brisbane Joe? I've always liked Australians and have several Aussie friends. You're the first that I've met with a severe case of America Sucks attitude.

I live in Brisbane, Australia. I've lived in many countries (due to my dad's work). Haven't been to the US as of yet. But i'm planning on heading over there for a while later this year, or early next year.

Can't say i'm jealous of people living in the US. But then again, i don't have a low opinion of Americans either.

Nope...it took awhile for me to come around but I'm not jealous of anyone.

Americans arent competition. They are our friends.

I'm sick of this bullshit. Good people are good people and I hate what this fucking world is turning to.

Joe, you are making a GROSS generalizatoin.

1) There are several, a very vocal minority, an axis of maybe 6 people, who would say if you disagree with America you are just jealous of America and you want to live here.

2) However, there are in the world many people living in abject poverty who hate the U.S. because they are jealous. But, they also hate the West in general, but because the U.S. is the major superpower, it is the most convenient target. These people don't live in Europe, Australia, Japan, et al. And, probably more than not, actually like America. I've traveled to a number of "third-world" countries where I was treated like a celebrity because I was American (or western).

I love my country. I love living here. But, I also loved living overseas and would eagerly do it again given the opportunity.

The problem with some people here is that they think loving America means despising everyone else, or least thinking they are better than everyone else. But they hardly speak for the majority of good Americans who are friendly, tolerant and welcoming of visitors.

Frankly, I'm pretty shocked by how ignorant some people are on this board (a very small minority, though), but they are hardly representative of the entire country.

Agreed. I am tired of this stupid shit too. It was interesting at first just to see what everyone's core feelings were but now it's just getting annoying.

How about some threads where you talk about positive things where you are. A lot of us enjoy travel and maybe you'll actually have an impact on opening the eyes of fellow collegues to your country...

The problem is that people let their emotions get the best of them and they feel the need to attack someone else's (or everyone else's) country, and it just becomes lame. However, a good political debate, and even a little ribbing, is fun and worthwhile, as long as it is in good spirit. Unfortunately, many of these discussions have just denigrated.

being a genius, my opinion is pretty much fact so don't argue it.

in a nutshell, due to all the attention america recieves throughout the world, a lot of people become rather opinionated about it (and a large majority of the time its a negative opinion).

the reason it is negative is because most of the time, foreign people who don't like where they live need an excuse not to desire living in the US because it makes it a bit easier to cope with. LOL! Crazy, isn't it.

shit, if i lived in some typical joe schmoe country and i heard of a country called USA, "Land of the free", where all the movie stars / famous people live, shit i'd wanna be over there myself too. but realistically most people won't make it there, so to make reality more comfortable, they distort their perceptions of the US in a negative manner.

usually with anything in life, if a person / thing recieves a ton of attention whether it be negative or positive - it possesses one of 2 qualities. its either really kickass / hip n' happenin / up tight n' outta site (which is generally the case), or its a terrible mean massive bully.

and for most people who dislike the US, they know its a really kickass place to live (depending on where you go of course), but its easy to follow the bandwagon and hate on something for the sake of making reality a bit better.

You know, I can't resist posting in a Joe Sixpack thread. If only to interrupt his seemingly endless flow of anti-american propeganda vomit.

What's the point of this thread, Joe? Do you really give a shit about the topic itself, or is it just another chance to stir the shit around here between webmasters from different countries? Is the adult industry really THAT baffling to you that you can't make a singular post about the one topic that unites us all? Are you even an adult webmaster, or were you sent here by Bin Laden to bring chaos to the adult business?

Be careful what you say about America. I have a few friends in Australia that love this country, and they may live closer to you than you think.

I agree that most people who *hate* America, a primary catalyst of their hate is jealousy. It represents something they want, that they wish the have.

However, I don't think that if a person disagrees with U.S. foreign policy, and harbors a dislike for foreign policy, by definition hates America and deep down really wants to live here. I've lived in a lot of places, so I've had a lot of these discussions with people in other countries.

yes in that respect i agree with you. but i believe there really aren't that many people who dislike america in that manner, opposed to the people who dislike america "just because" who follow the bandwagon and repeat bullshit they hear from others.

its related to a lot of the anti-war protestors here, when that guy went out and actually questioned people they truly had no reasoning behind their beliefs. just herds of sheep.

I want to know if any foreign webmasters are actually jealous of the USA like you guys constantly say we are. You know, we all live in filthy commie countries and have no freedom etc etc Well I'm just checking in with other foreign webmasters to see how they feel.

Be careful what you say about America. I have a few friends in Australia that love this country, and they may live closer to you than you think.

Considerably different but I'm not going to sit here and detail them for you. If you're interested come here yourself.

What the fuck are you talking about?

I asked you a question. How many countries have you visited and how much time, in total, have you spent overseas?

You just don't get exposed to most film from other countries. Americans don't like movies where people have foreign accents! How many Australian movies have you seen? We make dozens every year but most of them aren't boring, shallow special effects driven piles of shit so that's why you don't see them.

Oh shut the fuck up! If your movie producers could afford to make special FX driven movies, they would. Bottom line is, Hollywood produces the highest budget, highest-grossing films world wide. Pple from other countries LOVE our movies. We do big business overseas in the movie industry.

By the way, Romper Stomper was a good Australian flick. And I didn't mind the accents. But where is Russell Crowe now? OH YEAH... making movies in HOLLYWOOD. I forgot.

its related to a lot of the anti-war protestors here, when that guy went out and actually questioned people they truly had no reasoning behind their beliefs. just herds of sheep.
You're probably right in that most people in the world are sheep and follow the pack. They may not have any cogent argument for why they dislike America.

However, most of the people that I've had interaction with overseas that dislike in America, dislike America because they dislike our foreign policy and feel that we are arrogant, believing that what's good for America is good for the rest of the world.

I'm not saying this is a majority, but it represents a majority of people I've interacted with overseas who do criticize the U.S.

The fact is I don't think it's far-fetched to think that America does act in its own self-interest. While I disagree, I think America is not acting purely in self-interest I can understand why people think so. Right now, we have very different viewpoints than many of our allies, consequently we haven't particpated in many globabl treaties as of late (or withdrawn from treaties). Yet, we ask everyone to jump on board and support us when we need them.

On nearly all these issues, I agree with the decisions that we make, but I fully understand the disconnect between America and much of Europe.

You shut the fuck up shithead!

People love your movies because people love shit. That's why they love McDonalds. That's why they love Eminem. You culture has done nothing but bastardise art. Your studio films are shallow. Your studio films are stupid and moronic. Essentially it is shit cinema. You can't see it because 90% of your culture is junk. You do have good filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese and David Lynch but they are a tiny minority.

Russell Crowe is in Hollywood because he loves the attention and the money like most actors. Your films aren't better, they just cost more.

So GFY!

yeah i see what you mean.

personally i don't hate any country. i try to stray away from basing my opinions on people from other countries just because my country doesn't like them, or they don't like us. when it comes down to it, none of that means anything. everyone is different, and the root of the problem is lack of understanding.
