Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 is out!

I am actually excited. Writing PHP and XML/XLT code has just gotten even easier.

You need the fixed crack from Paradox. The first crack doesn't work, produces stupid JS errors.

I'm amazed by the number of people that use Dreamweaver. Being in this business, HTML should be a REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. You people get more and more lazy I swear.

I use DW mostly to write code by hand, it has a quality code editor. I do use various CSS wizards whenever possible, why type the exact shit that DW can type for you?

Since when does using an editor mean you don't know markup?

But, I'll admit, Dreamweaver has made me a little lazy.

So a jumbled up blob of HTML that works in 1 browser is what you call results?

Eh you can go make your websites using notepad and html and in the time you spend making yours i'll make 5 sites in dreamweaver. I really don't see any use for fully coded html pages unless its for a highly complicated site with complicated tables and other stuff. Dreamweaver can handle everything else.

Can't wait to get my hands on the new version & yes I do know markup as well just haven't needed it much lately, but it always does come in handy.

Yeah, i program too. Dreamweaver spits out nicely formatted w3c compliant html/xhtml/xml. Hand coding is great if it's what you like, but dont bag on people who like wysiwyg tools.

After all...If I am using VC++ i dont open up the resource files and define buttons just cause i *can*.. I use the graphical tools provided to me because it makes my life easier and spits out code that is equally functional but in less time.

I find it phenomenally difficult to believe that you could do nested tables with varying borders, cell paddings and widths, some with multiple colspans at the same speed that I could do the same thing graphically in dw.

And pay for it you pathetic fucks. Jeez.

Dude, why would I wanna handwrite HTML, I already handwrite PHP, I don't really feel like doing HTML too! Common, that's just a waste of time

I have been using the 30 day trial since MX 2004 was released.

It's very bloated IMHO....Slower than Regular Dreamweaver MX...not that many added features that I would use often AND it crashed the last time I had it open.

I stopped using it tonight.

Regular Dreamweaver MX is lightening fast compared to MX 2004.

I'm not upgrading.

Oh, STFU about the hand coding shit. This isn't the 90's ya know.

handcoding from scratch is indeed a waste of time. i use DW to make the rough draft, and revise the html and incorperate css... writing it from scratch takes quite a bit longer.

does anybody know if you have to uninstall mx 6.0 to install mx 2004 or it overwrites it? Seems I've ended up with 2 copies!

Nothing wrong with knowing html code inside and out. I have used Homesite for years now...and still use it for 90% of what I do. I use Dreamweaver for the other 10%. Nothing beats knowing the basics of html..... should be standard for webmasters.

If you hate WYSIWYG html editors cause of all the extra crap they add to the page (me too), but you'd like the convenience of clicking on a button to add HTML code, check out this program:

http://www.notetab.com/

I hire professional web designers to do my sites, but when I want to edit the HTML code to make minor changes, I use Note Tab Pro.

It makes it easy to "hand code" your web pages without the bloat added by the WYSIWYG programs.

Using Dreamweaver does not mean that you don't know HTML.

HTML is not hard to learn.

Dreamweaver is for speed.

Thanks for making the one post worth reading on this thread.

Anyone else have anything to say about the program?
