anybody familiar with print advertising(newspaper/magazines)? i'm thinking of venturing into the print world. any insight would be appreciated.

yea, i started in print... it's a pain in the ass!!!.... stick with the internet, less headache trust me!

i called the big newspaper around here and their prices were outrageous.

I was a VP at two of the largest advertising agencies in th country (independent).

You need to commit to a print campaign. Newspaper advertising for example: it takes an average of 8x for a reader to respond to the advertisment.

I would encourage you to also look at placement and make sure that you are in the correct part of the publication. If you are are selling shampoo, you don't want to be in the sports section, etc....

You're creatives need to be sharp.....

Adult or Mainstream?

Not to familiar with print advertising for adult.. but for mainstream.. its very expensive..

Not sure what you want to advertise, but if you get a fullpage ad.. to many magazines or newspapers it could cost you well over $20,000 an issue.

They all take adult advertising. I've advertised in 3 of them so far.... Dallas Observer, New Orleans Gambit Weekly, and the Ft. Worth Weekly. They're pretty cheap, too. Also, you can advertise for 1 MONTH in the magazine called Gentleman's Cabaret (also here in Dallas) for $50/month. Go to http://www.gc-magazine.com for more information on their advertising.

full color flyers seem too expensive to me. when i do flyers i do 1 sided black & white and the place i found gets me 3,000 pages cut twice (12,000 flyers) for only $80.
