My girl has an uncle being shipped out for a complete year, it was his last active month.
And I have a 21 year old cousin thats been there for a while as well, most likely will remain for awhile longer or be shipped elsewhere. Both obviously not allowed to say exactly where they are or are going, but its clear they arent in mexico hahah

Depends on where you are, and why are you are in the service. I come from a Navy home -- you get it or you don't. Believe it or not, some, and I would dare say most of the soldiers that are over there, are there because they want to be. It is their job, it is what they want to do with their lives, they actually love it. I have great respect for these men. The ones bitching and whining about it are the ones that joined for eductation money, to run away from their problems, or because they just couldn't do anything else. There is great honor in the first type of soldier I mentioned, and I will always support these men.

seems like halliburton can't deliver the goods, they can only cash the checks. "Letters published in Stars and Stripes and e-mail published on the Web site of Col. David Hackworth (a decorated veteran and Pentagon critic) describe shortages of water. One writer reported that in his unit, "each soldier is limited to two 1.5-liter bottles a day," and that inadequate water rations were leading to "heat casualties." An American soldier died of heat stroke on Saturday; are poor supply and living conditions one reason why U.S. troops in Iraq are suffering such a high rate of noncombat deaths?" http://www.nytimes.com/2003/08/12/opinion/12KRUG.html |

There is no way in Klingon Hell that you can convince me that somebody would love to be in Iraq for a whole goddamned year. Sure I support the troops more than anybody else but this shit chews raw cat's ass. It's hot, smelly, danger at every turn and shakey politics. Let's do what we can to make their stay more pleasant like send em' goodies if we're allowed. |

I am so confused. Bush told me the Iraqi people wanted us there, that it would be like the liberation of France. Loving Iraqi people dancing in the streets, Iraqi women rushing out to wash the feet of the battle weary liberators. I saw the statue come down, I still have tears in my eyes from the site of Iraqi people being set free from the clutches of that evil dictator. Why wont they just let us occupy their nation? I thought they wanted us there.

Americans are always under attack because of our beliefs. Just because our people are in Iraq just galvinizes the fact that we are hated and in danger. I've even been jumped in bars in Japan by New Zealanders, Arabs, and more just because they found out that I'm an American. I've known Americans that travel under the guise of being 'Canadian' so that they don't recieve similar 'hospitality.' I've never needed to hide because I'm proud of who I am. If I had joined the armed services I would do my job and my duties without complaint like my father did all 27 years he served while our family was in danger and in so called 'friendly' countries. by all indications the japanese military was defeated prior to bombing hiroshima and nagasaki. there have been several books discussing why truman felt compelled to use the nuclear weapons as a signal to the russians that the US was going to assert itself in Europe after the war. that really had to suck for the innocent civilians in those cities, huh? |

Why is bombing Nagasaki and Hiroshima less humane than fire-bombing Tokyo (which was being done anyway)? I think that's an excellent point about Truman and Russia. Just guessing but I'd bet the bombs would have been dropped anyway. I would have ordered it.

Study the history of war and you will learn that "innocent civilians" were almost always targeted...in the wars/conflicts through out history.

It's a holy decision of that fucking president you love so much, don't you?
Most americans on this board applauded when U.S. troops mugged the Iraq people. Now it's time to pay for this crime. Have fun in sunny Iraq!

I know that being in far away god forsaken country sucks but its the life they chose. If they dont like it, all they can do is call thier recruiter and bitch then hop on the plane to Iraq. I knew the risks when I signed up, hopefully they understood as well. Becuase its too late to change your mind once you sign.
Besides why bitch none of you on this board are going. Believe it or not I know guys who rather be shot at then listen to people bitch about how bad life is in the US while drinking thier fucking designer coffee at StarBucks. |

According to US law the President of the United States can only deploy The US Marines without congressional approval for 90 days. And every member of congress except one approved the use of military troops in Iraq. And mugged who you fucking idiot, Iraq's own government cleaned out the fucking banks. |

I saw it on a Star Trek episode one of my pals wrote. In 'Klingon Hell' they have a dude named 'Fek'lar' who looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars on crack. It's the Klingon's version of Satan. It's where the 'dishonored dead' go or some such thing. Basically it means a place where all bullshit stops before it starts. |
