Why not just look at the facts and circumstances realistically?? Americans have a tradition and a constitutional amendment that has supported gun ownership for 200 + years.

Now, with 300 million guns, do you really believe is it a good idea to try and take them away at this point?? What group of people will turn in their guns? criminals? do you really believe that all guns would be turned in? that gun crime would go down?

This is very much like prohibition or drug control. Often, it's better to educate and treat than it is to control through force.

I am proud to say that we have many guns in our household some for hunting and some for personal defense and some for just the fun of shooting the shit out of things. Even though now I do not carry but when I lived in Phila a few years ago I did not leave the house without it. Now I live out in the middle of nowhere where you know almost everyone, however I still do carry when I visit the city.

There is nothing wrong with owning guns if your know what your doing, are responsible and not a pussy because the time you take to think about it you will be dead!

A gun is symbolic. For some a gun is a symbol of freedom and protection. For others it is a symbol of conservativeness and violence.

Will society be so free as to allow people to own dangerous things such as guns or will it eventually aim to protect everyone to such an extent that guns, tobacco, and alcohol will be outlawed?
