I think the opposite might be true, over culture, I am first generation american and I can telly you, in a city like Chicago you can drive to work everyday and drive through at least a dozen ethnic neighborhoods all with the various cultural traits and languages, you can't avoid it.
I can also tell you that the majority of americans are alot more open to other cultures and cultural exchange than the swedes in this thread seem to be.
