On one of my dating sponsors, i average about 800-1k free ads that i dont get paid for. When/IF they convert to a paid membership i will get money.

It is surprising to see that at the end of the month i only have between 30-50 converted signups per month ....

Isnt that like 3%-5% of the free signups actually convert?

I know the program owner well, and i am positive he doesnt shave, or skim, or any other false shit .....

What the fuck is the problem?

1) person signs up for free
2) he surfs the site until he finds someone he likes
3) goes to contact her but realizes he has to pay
4) only 5% TOPS are willing to pay?

Now the other thing that baffles me ...

These free signups can also place a free personal/swinger ad.

Eventually someone is going to convert to a paid membership just to contact them, then they will need to pay to return the call so to say.

So you would think if sending 1k free ad's per month, eventually you might send the free surfer that tries to contact someone, who then comes and converts .... adding upto 2 converting signups for the day.

I cant think of a single way that id be able to increase this ratio since i really have nothing to do with it.

Unless you guys offer us a second signup form for surfers, where they have to pay to join right off the bat?

That may be tricky since, and would most likely require BYOT, but id be willing to throw it some traffic.

no thats not what i said.

It takes alot of hits to get 1 single free signup, then alot of free signups to make 1 PAID signup.

I dont complain too much to program owner since he knows i make damn good cash doing whatever im doing ...

But working the numbers it looks as if i should make 20% to 30% MORE than i do now ....

Why does it take a lot of clicks to get 1 free signup? We are working continuously to improve things at DatingGold and yesterday free joins were higher than ever on the same amount of traffic. 5% really isnt a bad number of free to pay...

1 in 10 join free... 1 in 20 of those join for pay...

Thats 1:200 and not out of the norm for our program. Of course exit traffic doesnt join at 1 in 10 free.. but clicked traffic for the most part does.

I don't totally agree with your point 2 - a lot of people will place an ad and then wait for someone to reply to it, rather than actively surfing the site for someone he/she likes. If nobody replies (which could be down to crap ad, not enough members,etc etc) then clearly they won't pay to join.

Out of interest, what kind of surfer are you sending - Joe Horny or Joe Lonely? There is a hell of a difference between the two.

I did a story gallery once and used Red Personals. My free join conversion was about 1:8. Not sure if that's good or not.

Why worry about so much shit? Right now I'm sending traffic to a certain program and it's making me 6 cents per click. The traffic itself costs me about 4 cents per click. So I'm making 2 cents per click. That's all I care about. It's making money.

Could it make more money by being sent somewhere else? Sure. Could it make less money being sent somewhere else? You bet. So what? As long as it's making money, just forget it and move on to the next project.

Exactly! Too many people spend too much time thinking and going over #s and trying to figure them out instead of just working on stuff. (I'm guilty of it at times too

I think you have a valid point it can be confusing to have any idea how many free will convert.

My opinion is that it really depends on the traffic that you are sending to the program. I have a feeling I know which program you are talking about.

For example if you send TGP traffic and get some free signups, you can't expect the best conversion ratio in the world becuase just like a normal adult site, these people are going to get what they can for free, just like they did off of the TGP. So it will be hard to convert someone who doesn't pay for porn in the first place. Doesn't matter if its personals or an adult site.

But the good part about personals versus your average adult site is that you have more than one chance to impress them. So even if they don't convert off the bat you don't lose them to the next site as many will register for free, then we do the work to convert them for you.

Now what you want to make sure of is that when you do refer a free member that you get credit for life if that person decides to convert later on. I know that when you refer someone we give you credit for them for LIFE, but many sites only do 30 days max. So that should be a deciding factor becase I have seen users that wont convert for up to 8 months. Crazy I know. But if you think about it, at some point in time they are going to be looking to get laid and we're a great tool for that.

Personally I have tried both approaches, the problem with this is that so many sites offer to "browse" for free now. If all the sites went back to you have to pay to join that would be great, but it's not gonna happen.

It makes a HUGE difference - Joe Lonely is the kind of guy you were talking about in your original point 2 - he'll post an ad, actively search the site for someone he likes, probably join more than one site and more than likely renew or sign up for 3 or more months.

Joe Horny on the other hand is quite likely to post a free ad if he has to, if it means he can jack off to the member photos he then has access to. The chances of him actually paying are probably less than zero.

I don't think the problem is that there are 'so many sites offering browse for free', I think the bigger problem is just that there are just 'so many sites'

I can remember the good old days when I used to receive a very nice monthly check from One and Only - they have always done the 'browse for free' but the big difference is that back then they had virtually no competition.

I think another big difference is that the market has changed - certainly as far as my experience is concerned, people don't want the 'family friendly' personals type of site anymore, they want the kind of 'action sites' for want of a better term that they'll find with people like yourselves, AFF, Red Personals, I WantU and the Pussycash sites

BUT i stick with my program loyally, any competitors who have contacted me asking for traffic will tell you that.

I stick to my program for a few reasons:

1) he was willing to help me when i had nothing at all, including traffic
2) his advice has proven to be good and profitable
3) he throws parties with naked chicks and invites me
4) he isnt a cranky fuck who doesnt give a shit who he pisses off, just as long as he can defend his program even though it wasnt being bashed to begin with.

5) generally speaking, he treats me as a person unlike most people in this biz. he has learned that i am actually not such a bad guy, and i do have some ideas that can prove to be profitable.

Well, DG is completely opposite. They adapt to current conditions, and make necesary changes to make the best of your traffic at all times. Always open for suggestions, and always adding new features and functionality to better convert your surfers, and/or help you make money in some other way.

And Detoxed, even though he seems like a spamming creep sometimes, is usually very helpful when i need something. He knows the market very well and has even gone as far as to help me better target my traffic for other programs he is not related to.

Seems he should be in trouble for helping me with other programs, but if it werent for that i would prolly not be even concidering pushing DG again ..... he is surely an asset to the company.

These numbers I believe. They are in line with the numbers I generate with my own traffic on my own sites.

I have never believed AFF's claim to convert 1:20. 1 out of every 20 hits to the home page pay money? Damn, that's good. Too good. Unbelievably good. So fucking good that if it's true I have no hope of ever competing against them in the affiliate market... Unless 1:20 means 1 out of every 20 free signups? Then sure, they do that, so does everyone else.

What the fuck is the problem? 1) person signs up for free 2) he surfs the site until he finds someone he likes 3) goes to contact her but realizes he has to pay 4) only 5% TOPS are willing to pay? Now the other thing that baffles me ... These free signups can also place a free personal/swinger ad. Eventually someone is going to convert to a paid membership just to contact them, then they will need to pay to return the call so to say. So you would think if sending 1k free ad's per month, eventually you might send the free surfer that tries to contact someone, who then comes and converts .... adding upto 2 converting signups for the day. I cant think of a single way that id be able to increase this ratio since i really have nothing to do with it. Unless you guys offer us a second signup form for surfers, where they have to pay to join right off the bat? That may be tricky since, and would most likely require BYOT, but id be willing to throw it some traffic. __________________ HEY!! Unbeatable hosting! We are working continuously to improve things at DatingGold and yesterday free joins were higher than ever on the same amount of traffic. 5% really isnt a bad number of free to pay... 1 in 10 join free... 1 in 20 of those join for pay... Thats 1:200 and not out of the norm for our program. Of course exit traffic doesnt join at 1 in 10 free.. but clicked traffic for the most part does.
