to Pop... or Not to Pop (600+ exit consoles) what's your take?

I'm currently building one of Voltars TTT's and by the time it's done it's like 600 exit consoles big.

If a surfer chooses a niche. He's hit with an FPA. On that FPA there is a link to the site, and an exit console from the FPA. That exit console, also has an exit console.

Ok, so the guy is at the free site, he's surfing around and is presented with a "links" link. He hits it, and gets an FPA to more sites like the Niche he just chose. He chooses the "no thanks, let me in" and gets hit with an exit from that FPA, and then if he closes that exit, he's hit with another exit.

The TTT is so big that by the time it's done I think there are well over 600 exit consoles.

Is that too many? Exits, on exits... Should I build it with no exits? Should I just use the FPA's by themselves? I only ask because it's so damn big and complex, it's not like you can just go back later and add 600 exit consoles.

What would you do?
1 exit console?
2 exit consoles?
no exit consoles?

I'm not very fond either, but that's what the recipie calls for. I'm just not sure if it will work with today's surfer. The traffic seems to be like 80% SE so you can pretty much do what ever you want to with them.

I guess what I'm womdering is do exits still play a role in providing clicks and ultimately signups.

1: Exits are going the way of the dodo bird soon. By the time you get good SE placements...

2. It's been rumored that SE's are going to start penelizing for massive pops. I dunno if it's true but it's something to think about.

3. I'll never fall for your tricks because I have the beta Google Toolbar Muahahahahaha! No pop ups!

If they didn't play a role any more and ultimately make signups you wouldn't see them on pay sites. Every huge profitable pay site has popups.

The problem is this board is soooooo TGP heavy that you're lead to believe things tgp style ie. consoles suck, big sponsors suck etc, etc. There's a whole other marketing world out there and Voltar knows his thing. I market very similar to him and I still achieve good ratio's with all the big sponosrs that eveyone here complains about....why? because I get good SE traffic and I market and filter them well, this includes using consoles effectively.

The people that hate consoles the most are webmasters not surfers. The key is to not think like a webmater, think like a salesman. Sure surfers will complain about consoles but guess what, they still click them and still make us money, plain and simple.

But yes use consoles. The only thing that I would do differently than what you mentioned is use "onClick="exit=false" on all your links. This way the surfer only gets an exit console when they close or back up from your page. When they click "no thanks" and continue there shouldn't be an exit console...the following page might have one though.

Anyways, sorry for the rant.

Redshoe, you seem like a cool guy and I like your posts. Hit me up on icq and I'll show u some cool filtering/console techniques

The weird thing about exit strategies even though EVERYONE says they hate them, even consumer's. Statisitics show that people tend to make a purchase through an exit reutine.

Ironic no?

The same is true with spam.. people hate spam, yet they still make purchases! Maybe it's true, surfers are just sheep?

I'd do you too.

I mean, yeah, I think I'm going to do it too.

It all comes down to sales for me. It's not like I'll be trading this traffic It'll be 80% earned by me so I can do whatever I want to with it.

No need in reinventing the wheel. I see them everywhere so they must work. Melo is right the only people that hate them are webmasters.

I wish myself luck.

Popups are good, but use em in moderation. 600 popups ...

I have noticed that surfers are becoming more resistant to popups and I am only able to pop onto 2 thirds of the surfers I could 6 months back. Strangely enough popup killers are one of the more frequent spams.

cracks me up.

it's 600 but they'll most likely never ever see them all.

I'm just saying that by the time you are done building this empire it involves like 600+ consoles.

The way I see it the average surfer coming in will see 5-6 at the most.

1 on entry (from the first FPA) and one when exiting the Exit that just popped. (2 so far)

same thing for when he goes from the sites to a new niche. (2 more)
and 2 more when exiting the hub.

Well, if something tickles a surfer's fancy just right, i don't think it really matters how it is presented to him, he's gonna buy.
