If they didn't play a role any more and ultimately make signups you wouldn't see them on pay sites. Every huge profitable pay site has popups.

The problem is this board is soooooo TGP heavy that you're lead to believe things tgp style ie. consoles suck, big sponsors suck etc, etc. There's a whole other marketing world out there and Voltar knows his thing. I market very similar to him and I still achieve good ratio's with all the big sponosrs that eveyone here complains about....why? because I get good SE traffic and I market and filter them well, this includes using consoles effectively.

The people that hate consoles the most are webmasters not surfers. The key is to not think like a webmater, think like a salesman. Sure surfers will complain about consoles but guess what, they still click them and still make us money, plain and simple.

But yes use consoles. The only thing that I would do differently than what you mentioned is use "onClick="exit=false" on all your links. This way the surfer only gets an exit console when they close or back up from your page. When they click "no thanks" and continue there shouldn't be an exit console...the following page might have one though.

Anyways, sorry for the rant.

Redshoe, you seem like a cool guy and I like your posts. Hit me up on icq and I'll show u some cool filtering/console techniques
