Eh, more or less. Actually society tells you that because most people are mindless automatons and need to be lead. They need a plan to follow, such as going to college to get hired somewhere working 9 - 5pm doing whatever they're interested in. At least that way they will contribute positively to society. If everyone tried to be an entrepreneur , our public restrooms would overflow with shit, our garbage would never get collected, and there would be no one at Mcdonalds to get my order wrong.

The best two ways to make big dollars in the corporate world are either being the CEO or a very high level exec and in corporate sales.

In my twenties, I made 6 figures doing corporate sales. It was very very hard work, and I was always the first to arrive and the last to leave, but by keeping those hours the CEO and I would often bump into each other riding up the elevator first thing in the morning and he'd usually be the last to go and would see me still calling clients.

So he knew I was the most diligent worker he had and quickly leapfrogged me over guys who had been there years longer to be VP Sales and Marketing, where I eventually had 200 sales people under me and got lucrative override commissions on all those other salesman's volume.

When I got to the point where I went to him one day and said I really want to do my own thing now, he said great I'll put up the capital and will finance your business for you and be your partner.

After that, at age 27, I never had to work for a corp. again.

So the lesson being, corps are great to find your mentor and learn. Don't kid yourself, having mentors is the most valueable thing you can have when you're young. They'll teach you all the things not to do and will save you precious time and money.

"Sit and talk with rich men, and you will learn more about business than any book can teach you."

Reading his other posts about phone sex, I'm guessing 7 figures.

Say your plan is go to school, work, married, ...

This is what happen.

You go to school. Graduate level classes can be taken straigth without prerequisite. But you have to do homeworks and move as slow as everyone else. You know most of the courses are garbage, but you have to learn it and move as everyone else. The useful stuff can be learn very quickly, but you got to slow down because every one else is slow.

Meanwhile, you pay tuition and work. If the tuition paid + your sallary working is used in stock, by the time you graduate you would have had residual income as much as your sallary.

You see, how your capability and initiative are simply mitigated in school. Even though you could have been way more productive (and therefore make more money) by not taking garbage classes and take classes you're good at quicker, you can't because the system is design to make you move as slow as everyone else.

Anyway, you ignore that and still go to school to get a degree. Yipee. You pick an occupation with low supply and high demand so you get paid high right? Well, when you graduate, government will simply make rules saying that bricklayer and blue collar workers are protected from foreign competitors while the programmers have to compete toe to toe with foreigners. So, your sallary is global market price, but you have to pay higher for fixing your cars, the maid, fixing your house, your food. Higher costs of living, which simply means implicit welfare for all those lesser than you. American living costs is higher than the rest of the world due to this implicit welfare.

And then you pay Social security and medicare and income tax totalling 50%. You have to pay more because you do not have kids. What can you do to have kids then? You get married, which leads to divorce. Now, your wife just sit around fucking the milkman while you have to pay half of your sallary for alimony. Another half goes to child support of the bastard child they make. So you only use a measly 12.5% of your income which mostly goes to implicit welfare for the farmers and blue collar workers. You yourself sleep in the car doing dangerous job in vietnam for your ex wife and the milkman in shining armor.

Meanwhile, being ordered around by your boss drops your testosterone level and you start getting bald in your hair (this one is scientific).

If that's your idea of happiness, go ahead work for others for the rest of my life. I realized this 1 year after I graduate and quickly run my business. NEVER will I count on a job again.
