Nobody Gets Rich Working For Other People
Society Tells you to go to college, get a job, work until your hair turns grey, and you'll be rich and have all you need.
That is all bullshit. Start your own empire or you will be just like every other dipshit out there. |

I think most people in this business have the same philosophy, Jedi. If we didn't want to build our fortunes on our own, we'd be working a 9-5 at the nearest quicky mart. :Graucho

Being you own boss is the most important. I don't care if I'm millionaire but not having to follow orders is great.

Well DJ, I guess you finally got Kiosaki's book as well. It changed me the first time I read it as well. I bought a copy and had it sent to a guy in Detroit, I bought one for AMP (he didn't have a tape player so we took it back, and he doesn't have time to read) I bought it for my sister....
It's a good book. |

You are partly right DarkJedi, but some people become doctors and DO make a lot of money (it is just what your vision is about a "fortune").
But indeed, the real rich guys started their own business, creative people get rich, not the average stereotype 9 to 5 guy. |

When I was just a little boy, I ask my teacher what this garbage courses is for?
I got to memorize a lot of dates, names, and places. I had to remember what shit some books author or music composer wrote. I think it is USELESS. They said it is NECESSARY. Now I half agree with them. It is indeed necessary to turn us into working class drone. What they don't tell is that it is of course not necessary for our well being :D If government don't regulate economy and education than going to school is probably not bad. But with all governments act, I need to have a business. I am glad I did. |
I know plenty of people who made a ton of money working for somebody else. Plus, the boss can go bankrupt and have nothing but dept, while the emplyee just walks away with all the cash he made.

actors, specialists, athetes, etc. rememeber THESE words if you want to get rich. If you want to get rich you need to be able to do what other people can't do or won't do. that's the key - that's it. period. |

bobv you are a freaking idiot.
Every nation, culture has had slaves. Why aren't they are the top of the food chain? What about in sub-Saharah Africa where slaves are still used? When are they going to become a world power? The Unites Stated became a world power AFTER slavery, start around the Spanish-American war.... The US is the only Nation to fight a war over slavery, and to abolish it. The US became and is the #1 economic power because of the freedom we have to start our own business, take risks, and do our own thing. Very few places around the world are as easy to start your own company, and start doing business. We also let people who create wealth keep it and not tax it all away. Of course the past 50 years the Federal and State gov't have been making it rougher, and taxing companies more - but compaired to the rest of the world its still a better system. Funny how the USA haters always pop up in the threads.... :321GFY |

I don't exactly think the fact that you had to endure years of civil war to be able to abolish slavery is something to seemingly be proud of. And remember that even after abolition of slavery, the US benefitted greatly from it economically for decades thanks to segregation and a wide variety of methods used to keep the black population down that ensured that they remained extremely cheap labor. I don't agree with the post that tried to pin all of the US' success on slavery and "free" land, but slavery DID clearly play a part - it was vital in the economy of the south in particular for a long time. However, another, often overlooked reason, is that the US have led the way on trade protectionism ever since independence. It's quite interesting, considering that so much of the opposition against British rule was a result of British levies on the colonies, that the US learned the lesson so well and ever since have used trade restrictions, subsidies, import and export duties etc. on an unprecedented scale to ensure domestic companies get preferential treatment. Interestingly, that is the exact opposite of what the typical US free trade, free market rethoric would indicate. |
Working for the man may be fine for someone else, but I have told myself since I was 15, I would never work for anyone. I believe in the golden rule, he who has the gold makes the rules. I like to make the rules.
I have made atleast one millionaire. |
Get rich or die trying :glugglug

When I worked in Norway, which is typically presented as a high tax country, on a more "normal" salary, I was taxed about the same as the same salary would have been taxed in the US as well, though in Norway I would have been taxed more if my salary had been extremely high. Same goes for companies in most cases - taxation of companies in the US isn't particlarly lower than elsewhere. Low US tax is a myth. I pay about 32% tax in the UK at present, and US federal tax at my income level + state taxes in any of the states I'd consider living in + local taxes would end up around the same level. Considering that I get more for my tax money in the UK (I don't NEED a health insurance to feel safe, for instance), I'm pretty happy. The interesting part, though, is that the US tax brackets weight taxation much less towards high earners than most European countries do, and consequently an average earner in the UK would likely end up paying MORE tax in the US if he or she moved to the same states I would consider... Certainly the math could look different for some US states... But then not all states are made equal :-) |

shit Im wondering if might have to work at McDonalds ... head of flipping burgers :D! |
EP - you are right on some of your points. The tax rate in the US has grown a lot, and this has hurt business.
Also that the English Navy is what allowed the US to grow into the world power. The Monroe Doctrine, and other similiar doctrines were prety much enforced by the English Navy.... The UK kept European powers out of the Western Hemisphere, and allowed the US to develop into its own nation.... This is one of the reasons we have such a close bond to the UK today. Thanks for the help! It is appropriate to say thanks as we come to celebrate Independance day in a few days. |
