Doesnt take much speed. Deers are pretty solid if you hit them the right way haha.

They've got a V6 GT model that will definitely surprise you if you take one for a spin. Great car for the price.

You guys are lucky. Deer impacts often do a lot more damage than that.

Eww, I see blood!

At least he wasn't injured! I'm glad to hear he turned out in better shape than his car. I hope he doesn't feel too bad for the deer. I cried for over an hour once when I hit a huge frog. Of course, I was pregnant at the time and I kept thinking "that poor frog might have been about to lay eggs!" LOL

Is the deer in the freezer, yet? I sure could go for some venison cubes rolled in a flour/pepper/sage mixture and fried. Mmmm....

(edit) BBQ is good, too, but you should really try cutting some venison steak into cubes and frying them like I described. The sage is SO perfect with venison. (/edit)

Actually the damage doesnt look that bad

Cars are designed to crumple like that to absorb energy in a collision. New hood, new fender, new grill... probably need some bending for the hood latch support... the headlight bucket looks ok but its probably broken in the back, if not then the bucket support is broken. Hopefully nothing got into the radiator.

I'm guessing.... $2800 in damage

The rad was bent and cracked, leaking fluid. Also some other damage under the hood.

we have LOTS of deer, elk and mountain sheep in Banff. elk are much bigger than deer, and will seriously fuck up your vechicle.

but the worst are mountain sheep - dumb motherfuckers. they love to hang out on the roads in big groups. have zero fear of cars and car horns.

i haven't hit anything though... yet

yeah i figured that, but still shouldnt be over $2800

My wife hit a large deer in her xterra, it had a grill guard on it, which crushed the hood and both fenders, grill, radiator, offroad lights... bent the ends of the frme upwards when the grill guard moved.. total damage was $3900

and the fuckin deer ran off

I saw a guy on a motorcyle hit a deer once. Pretty scary. The guy was going about 80mph and SPLAT! He lived with just a few minor injuries, the deer was more or less cut in two.

I saw a car hit a deer and the deer went airborne, seemed stunned but managed to get back up and darted off into the woods. So sometimes they survive.

I hit a dog once. He just darted out from between two parked cars. I was doing about 45 mph. His head hit the bumper and I just heard this loud thump. He was killed instantly. We got out of the car and didn't know what to do cause he had tags on but it was a pit bull with one of those spike collars and in a rough latino neighborhood near the airport and I was thinking the guy that owns it will probably be a nasty fucker that'll flip out so we just moved it to the side of the road and I called animal control later to pick him up.

I've seen them run across three lanes of 70+ MPH heavy traffic on the interstate. It's nuts.

GA raised the kill limit - I think from 3 to 5 - but they are still becoming so overpopulated that it's sad. I can look outside and see 8-10 a day. I've learned when I'm driving that if one runs across the road, I stop, because there will be 3-4 following it. And they really DO just stop when the headlights hit them. It's illegal to "headlight hunt" here in GA and people get caught all the time doing it.

The newborn fawns are a trip - they play like little puppies.

You call that a deer strike?

Here is my 82 Buick after hitting a doe at 85mph (estimated impact speed).

Notice, the hood & fender are quite bent.. also, the core support (thick heavy structural member that spans across the top of the radiator) is severely bent. This picture is after $8 at the power washer to get off the green mush (she must have just eaten), blood, hair and bits of bone.

The hit happened around 2:30am coming south through the North Woods of Michigan from Sault St. Marie (at the Michican-Canadian border) to St. Ignace (at the southernmost point of northern Michigan), where I was for a car show. We managed to get the car back together the next day and for $90 got the radiator's 4 ruptures fixed and had it back on the road for the 700+ mile trip back to Pennsylvania.

Obviously, we paraded around town as the assholes who hit a deer that year, with big stickers on the side saying "Deer Slayer 455" (due to the Olds 455 engine) and "Bambi Killer" with a head count.

oh... and I knew a dude who hit a bear on his motorbike, and if you've never seen a bear on a motorbike before, it's a sight to behold. But seriously, the bear upped and walked away, the guy is pretty much done, last I saw him was a few months after, still had his head and arm in traction, kid was fucked up. Reasons I'll never put a sport bike on the road.

Last deer strike around here put the driver in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He is 20...

It is really sad shit.. And can you believe that Wildlife commision gave the trooper shit for shooting the deer. He was pissed because he wanted to shoot it. He complained that the next time he would charge the officer for hunting out of season.!

i can believe it, there are a lot of leftwing pansy ass mother fuckers out there that think the state ought to fork out thousands of dollars to pay a vet to give the fucker brain surgery nurse it back to health, and keep in it a wildlife preserve.

We have deer all over where I live.

My buddy purchased a car on eBay from someone in South Florida. He drove 9 hours to get home and was 3 minutes from the house and hit a deer. Now that sucks.
