Do you grant refunds to your paysite customers on request?
I've started to get a few refund requests for cumfacedasians.com (mostly cheap ass trial members) and they all sound like their professional paysite scammers. They all sound the same...like the found a little form letter on some site that teaches surfers how to scam paysite owners or something. My site is definitely not a ripoff site...it would take weeks to download all the pics and videos in our members area on a cable connection. There's no way anyone could get it all during a 2-day trial.
So, do you guys grant refund requests to avoid chargebacks or do you tell them to fuck off? |

At the end of the day, if someone is determined to have their money back then they'll end up getting it back.
It's up to you whether they chargeback on you or not. I refund 90% of the time people ask. I also still pay our affiliates the sale, so it costs me, but I stay in the good books with my processor and keep my affiliates happy. |

It's just that the bullshit reasons piss me off.
"Your site is good but I don't think the 20 hours of movies and 20,000 pictures are worth my $8.99 trial fee. Please give me a refund immediately." Crap like that. |

We have to live with the chargebacks in this industry, best to not worry about it and go on.

I had a chargeback once. I gave some thought to it and haven't had any since. Part of the answer is in a willingness to refund w/o argument, even if the reason given sounds like BS.

they will get it back anyway like you say, but not if it's over 3 months....
Visa international states that you can't claim a charge back after that time... |

Simply tell the guy . Sure you get a refund but it will take 1 month or maybe 2 until you biller post that refund. If he emails you after a month again refund it if not he has forgotten it.

The other thing, if a phone number is not on the bill, then they will refund regardless of time..
and they are all classed as cardholder not present so anyone could use it for a month and then just ask for a chargeback.... It get's noted on your account tho and could help them make decisions about increasing limit's etc so I wouldn't advise anyone doing it |

Maybe if you lowered your trial to something realistic. Many people use the trial period as the 'one time' jerk off and would not have a problem with say $2.99 or $3.99 but at $8.99 you are making it worthwhile for them to shoot off an email asking for refund.

I'd ALWAYS give refunds. I'd rather have a refund than a chargeback any day.
I joined a movie site once in 1998 for a trial. I think it was $4.95. The only reason I joined was to get access to downloadable movies. Well, after I got in I found ZERO clips. None. It was a bunch of generic streaming plugin crap and it ALL sucked. Not only did I cancel the trial but I asked for a refund and got it. I had only spent about 15 minutes in the site and I'd seen everything worth seeing, which was nothing. I also joined a different movie site once and also cancelled but I didn't ask for a refund of the trial price for that one because at least my husband and I DID enjoy the live shows a couple of times before we cancelled. However this site also was not worth the money because they had only streams amd we wanted downloadable movies. |

Ahem, ever heard of this...
"The customer is always right" Maybe he saw something on the tour he really liked and made him join, but once he got inside either A he couldnt find it or B saw it and then saw their wasnt alot of content of that one model maybe. Anyways, that old addage, "the customer is always right" has been around for a long time for a good reason... |

I have a question -
Is it possible for you guys to issue the refund, and then put his CC# in some sort of database which will NOT allow a trial anymore? I am paysite ignorant, but always wondered about that. "Sure I'll cancel your trial" and then they can never get one from you again. Just to avoid the trial - refund cycle. |

We have always had a policy of refunding unhappy customers. It does however require some rethinking in light of MasterCard's new edict that a refund is no different than a chargeback.
At this time I ask people who want a refund to use up their entire month and if they still want a refund contact me. Most never contact me, if they do they get a refund. |

With CCBill you can decide if that credit card can be used on your accounts again if you issue a refund.

I usually grant the refund, no questions asked, even if bogus.
But unless its a really good explanation (one woman claimed her 14 year old son charged it) I email Globill and request a lifetime ban, which they claim they grant to not just my site but any site they process. ![]() |

Ive had a few guys ask for refunds.
One, He was looking for content on a new domain when i didnt even have access to see the domain yet (propigation) I gave him an explanation, a free week, never heard from him again. another looked at a really old tour that promised something that I didnt have yet, he asked for a refund, but his credit card had already declined. |

I have refunded 2 members but each time it was a valid reason. The one was when I was moving my server and the site went down just after he signed up. I was too busy with the server to bother with an explanation.
The other was his username was over 40 characters and he emailed and demanded I fix it immediatly so I just refunded him because I was too busy. I did increase the length after that and he has since signed up again ![]()
