Now, this is an interesting one, because the people who "discovered" this make no efforts to hide that they think it started with a black man. I am not going to attempt to disprove this by science, nor do I want to. I have seen other evidence that shows human life did not originate in Africa. What I am going to do is toss some logic and common sence your way.

Let's just say, for arguments sake, that human life DID originate in Africa. Wow, the first human being. That would mean this "race" would be far and above all others on the evolutionary ladder, and it would also mean that the birth of civilization was non-Western. Let's just assume that since the first man was in Africa, that would naturally mean the first settlement was in Africa as well. They should be heads and tails above all others, but they are not.

Africa of the past and Africa of the present are eerily similar. Both practice cannibalism, female mutilation, tribal warfare, slavery and other nice little neanderthal-like things. Where are the great, vast African civilzations, where are the GREAT African inventions (you can save stuff like Peanut Butter and the Traffic Light, I am talking about mathematic inventions, world changing inventions, stuff of great importance, etc.)?

Now, since "African man" was first and Whitey was second, since then we caught up quite a bit. Modern civilization as we know it has the White man to thank for it. Government, monetary systems, roads, transportation, etc. are all products of our race's ingenuity.

Meanwhile, the African man's evolutionary ladder seems to drop a few steps; whereas, the White man can collectively act civilized in Western society, the black man ON A WHOLE remains similar to the tribal ways. Violence, "conquests", gangs (tribes), drum beat music (rap) and horrific living conditions (you can compare African conditions to any ghetto and find some similarities).

So, you see, whether or not African man was first, they sure as hell didn't take advantage of it now did they?

Actually, the point of the post by IrishJay was that White people have advanced regardless of it's roots, where as Africa and it's "beautiful black kings and queens" have not.

If the White race originate from the Black race, what does that say? That the Black race has not advanced significantly for a very, very long time.

That statement really does nothing except illustrate that every society has its own definition of "advance". To Europeans, US citizens have the best taste that money can buy. The Japanese not only have a poor opinion of all western "culture" but we actually smell bad to them because of our animal fat laden diet. The Chinese combine modern technology with a peasant society that has been unchanged for thousands of years. Etc.

Even among industrialised nations we don't even have a common standard as to what being "civilised" means. And if we could define a common standard today, there is no reason to be optimistic that such a standard would hold good for very long.

What we loosely refer to as "first world" countries are currently doing their level best to destroy their own environment. If they only manage to destroy themselves, will any of them be thought of as "civilised" in future?

Maybe we will not go that far. Maybe the G7 countries will just keep exporting jobs so that the steady economic decline of the past 30 years will become a route.

Whatever may happen, throughout man's relatively short history no-one has stayed on top for very long. When the Romans invaded Britain they encountered savages covered in blue paint. A few hundred years later the Roman Empire was gone while the sun never set on the British Empire. Now that has all but gone too.

In less than 100 years, Asian countries have changed from being primarily a source of western wealth to a major economic force in their own right. During that same period the US in particular has tried to keep the middle east destabilised, but arab nationalism and arab wealth continues to increase. Etc. Etc.

It isn't even necessary to get into debates such as what exactly "White" means. The fact remains that the most anyone can claim is that by their own standards, right now they are on top of the heap. There are no hard and fast rules about the rate a civilization should "progress". Much of what we deem "progress" is response to environment, random cultural drift, and good fortune (or choice) in location.

What were the conditions in which "civilization" appeared around the globe? There are many. One obvious example when you look at them is the number of advanced ancient civilizations that flourished near the banks of rivers (Amazon, Nile, Yangtze, Tigris/Euphrates). This would have probably been a better predictor of a civilization appearing than how long people lived in a region. There are many regions of the globe that have changed only a little in the past few hundred years and yet there have been dramatic changes elsewhere. This is not related to how long those people have been there.

"Came from Africa" does not mean black (nor white) so you can put away your KKK hat.
