Tech support could NOT help. Can GFY help? DNS is not resolving on my computer...

I have comcast cable...and a home network connecting 2 computers via a D-Link router. One of the computers works fne, access internet witout any problems. Other computer all of a sudden cannot connect to the net...but it connect if I use a proxy!

So I have talked to 2 Comcast techs and 1 D-Link tech...and they all keep blaming the other company. Before I go mad, anyone know what I can do? The D-Link tech told me my computer can ping the internet via ip addresses, but it can't ping it via dns, so it must be a problem with that. I run Windows XP.

I have comcast at home too and have the same fucking problem ALL THE TIME. The best I can figure is there are intermittant problems with their DNS servers and occasionally they have problems with peering points. ack!!

Do you work with DHCP (in the router) or do you assign your ip address yourself?

The problom is fixed! I decided to call comcast one more time, this technician knew his stuff...he had me uninstall my linksys network card saying the driver might be bad...so after the computer reinstalled the network card again, the problom is fixed now, 4 phone calls later. You may wanna try uninstalling your network card and reinstalling it again, it might be your driver as well.

both the router and comcast work with DHCP...problom fixed now though, it was a bad driver on the network card.

i was gonna suggest putting gum on the back of the router and then tipping it 45 degrees on its side. That usually works, but I guess your fix works too.

Dude.. Is it D-link wireless.. ??

They have a bug in that damn router. No patch.

Screws with DNS something awful. Cache's it up.. doesn't resolve.. blocks ports.. the thing sucks donkey dick.

D-Link makes some shitty hardware IMO.
