three courts of appeal...ontario, bc, and quebec have ruled that the law is unconstitutional.... all on absolutely solid legal grounds.

while other courts are not strictly bound per se, other lower courts would find their authority 'persuasive'

fucking fantastic! I was just reading something in the Advocate yesterday about the rulings. They are saying British Columbia is about to go that way too.

This is what their article says regarding British Columbia :

"Unlike similar rulings in Quebec and Ontario, the B.C. decision is the first to specifically rule out the option of a civil union system for gay couples, saying fully equality in marriage is required"
