i seem to get errors with <p>
Line 81, column 21: document type does not allow element "p" here; missing one of "object", "applet", "map", "hahahahahaha", "button", "ins", "del" start-tag
<hr /><big><p>

and also
Line 21, column 78: there is no attribute "background" (explain...).
...cellpadding="0" width="127" background="images/back.jpg">

Are you seeing these errors in a browser or validator ?

Sounds like your validating againts a DTD that does not allow the things mentioned in your message.
What are you doing that you have chosen to code xhtml?

i was doing it for an assignment

i still get that error but i scrapped <p> and i just used <br />
