i have to disagree with you on this one... i beleive highly in branding a particular site. the colors & fonts used in your site help set it apart from just throwing up random crap in an attempt to pull whoever and whatever to your site. too much random crap makes it seem futile. spend the extra few days looking for that look & feel and it can mean the difference.

branding is key, even for the internet. it's almost like a set of standards to work by... and makes things alot easier to create when building galleries, banners & the like.

as for disco stu... didn't you even say, "Disco Stu doesn't advertise"??? you sellout fuck.

When you're talking about the mainstream world, it's just advertising and design. Branding, in the mainstream world, is for business professors who have never been in business.
I'd like to know what you know about brand identity. :winkwinK:

The word "Disco Stu" is not trademarked by anyone, even the Simpsons. Fox does not own the Simpsons they are merely the producers that have the contract with Matt Groenig to show it on the television.

I will search elsewhere then.
Hi Stu, I love disco and can also design for mainstream and print when required. Why not ICQ me (#257286807) if you haven't found a designer yet.

Heh you have no clue honestly. There is only one other good domain name holder here, and its the person who owns adult.com
Okay, this has to be a board character.

There are plenty of people here who own domains that get more type-in traffic than disco.com would.

Second, how the fuck do you make money with disco traffic? Gonna sell platform shoes and sequined vests?

That's not branding. That is logo and site design.

I'm going to go with first year business classes for $100, Alex.

What is a dumb yuppie in a supermarket?

That's correct!

Why don't you tell me what you think branding is, and we'll work from there.

If you are a real business person then you do it the way real businesses do and ask for portfolios, pic a designer with a style you like and pay him a percentage in advance. Then he submits designs to you and you go through the process of modifying and tweaking until you end up with what you want.

I'm so fucking tired of this bullshit of people coming on here having logo design contests and shit. When Microsoft needs a logo for a new product do they put and ad in the paper asking for designers to submit their best logos and pick the best one. Fuck no, they hire a designer and pay them a pile of money for the design.

Of course it's branding. Take a look at this.

See the little square at the right? When the Commonwealth Bank of Australia advertises on television here, they don't even mention the name of their bank. They just say "Which Bank?" and put that logo on the screen. That is branding. You are an idiot.

Ad hominem attacks do not make your point any more salient. Is that how you resolve disagreements in business as well?

That is not branding. That is a logo. A memorable logo does not make a brand.

A brand is very simply the aggregate set of impressions and expectations that a customer has as a result of their interactions with a company, its products and services over time. A brand is almost the personality of a company.

A logo does not make a brand.

If you are interested in refining your view point on what a "brand" is and learn some valuable lessons about marketing in the process, let me know and I can suggest a good number of worthwhile reading materials.

Hope this helps.
