Is there anyone here with experience installing a new cdrom in a computer?

I desperately need some help with this bitch. I installed all the hardware correctly, yet whenever I turn the computer on, it is'nt reading my cdrom at all.

Also, my internet connection keeps shutting off and connecting again....

Anyone with ICQ and a desire to help me out? 163385497

Thanks

I don't have time for an ICQ walkthrough right now, but the first thing you should so is make sure you have the cable on the right way. Pin 1 (look for the red stripe) should be near the power input on the drive. After that, make sure that your BIOS knows its there. If you have your "2nd IDE device" or whatever set to "None", the computer won't know it's there.

In my experience, a good, solid, smack on the top or side of the computer does wonders.

Got it figured out, it was a Slave/Master problem, BIOS was straight, just forgot to switch it over.

Now I gotta tackle this driver problem.

Anyone know how to use downloaded drivers? Where they go and shit? My riptide audio file said there were'nt any drivers installed and asked for the install disk, but I have none, so I d/l'ed some, and I don't know what to do with em, lol.

Hybrid, did the driver you downloaded come with a .exe? Like install.exe? In that case just doubleclick on it. If there isn't one, there should be one called "install.inf" or "whatever.inf"
Rightclick, then click on "install", and reboot.
