As to secrecy...the select committies in the House and in the Senate have access to the same "secrets" that the President has (checks and balances).

As to being a "war time President". He is. War was declared after 9/11 and this administration said that the war could last as long as 10 years...other "experts" have said up to 30 years. This war is as real and as serious as any war that the US has engaged in. The man/woman that moves into the office of the Presidency after Bush will too be a "war time President".

Get used to the idea.

Sheesh.. you wish!!

You have, as you put it, "countered" every actual fact that I posted by ingoring the facts (including all that are published by your own government) and waffling crap "excuses" about economic "cycles" blah. They supposed to be some "response"???

Some folks just don't get it... more than disappointing!! Cos I know many of your countrymen know - also others in various countries.

Kinda builds up that caricature impression of US folks.. but then, ya can't tarnish others and assume they are the same.

Blindness and the inability to actually read facts or accept criticism is... well.. there ain't no point!

But hell.. I'm pleased you consider there is a checkmate... someplace! It must be satisfying!

Off hand I do not recall any "facts" provided by you.

Please make a list of every "fact" that you have posted in this thread and I will make short thrift of them one by one.

Or... I dunno, maybe you never actually read... but just present "excuses" for a situation. I know you got this sig that ... more than indicates some blind obedience....

Got a problem?? OK.. forget it cos there ain't a lot to say... all "facts" were obtained from US sources.. so that would mean criticising them is "wrong"

Yes...you did post at least three facts in this thread.

http://www.pipra.org did in "fact" take a poll.

It is "fact" that the Treasury issued a report. They do this periodically.

It is "fact" that Greenspan was not entirely pleased.

Have I over looked any other facts??

Hell.. that all you actually found??? There is definately some "lacking" someplace! I found this lot in a fraction of the time you took just to "sumarise" "three facts" - but you still have not even addressed them - but continue with "excuses" as to why everything is "different" and not as portrayed by the "factual reports". Otherwise.. what is the point you are trying to make??? Man you are a joke!

It was enjoyable, but hell... toooooo much!!!

(a) 41% of US think Weapons of Mass Destrution has been found in Iraq or were "unsure".

(b) 31% think Iraq had used chemical or biological weapons during the war - or were "unsure".

(c) 60% think those weapons were the main reason for the invasion.

(d) 19% thought the reason for war was because is was "Iraq's ties to al-Qaeda.

(e) 20% thought the war was "due to the fact that Hussein was an oppressive dictator".

Finally, based on the "knowledge" portrayed above, 75% said the US president was "showing strong leadership in Iraq"

Sheesh... makes me sadder each day at the thought they have less clues than I gave em credit for ....

As for the US going "bust"? Hell, even your own treasury spent a long enough time compiling the most comprehensive report yet on the US economy.

This boiled down to a chronic federal deficit budget totalling $44 billion in current US dollars.

For simplcity... that converts to:

(a) roughly 10 times the publically held national debt

(b) four years of US economic output

(c) 94% of all US household assets

The suggested remedy? An immediate and permanent 66% increase on income tax across the board.

Currently only 13 States have a fiscally sustainable policy at this time.

I have already stated that it is a "fact" that http://www.pipa.org
took a poll.

I have already stated that it is a "fact" that the Treasury Dept made a report...they do that periodically.

I also threw in the "fact" that Greenspan was not entirely pleased.

I repeat did you post any other facts in this thread that I am overlooking?

Well...I cannot dispute the fact that http://www.pipa.org
took a poll...or the "fact" that the Treasury Dept issued a report or the "fact" that Greenspan was not entirely pleased...so I mispoke. The three "facts" that you posted are indisputable.

You are correct...that appears to be the result of the poll. Polls are always suspect as polls are easily manipulated...but nothing about the poll surprises me or alarms me. Is that short thrift enough to suit you.

An individual that carries debt can continue to carry current debt and increase his current debt as long as his personal income increases enough to carry increased debt.
That is true, but is dependant on a *lot* of outside factors being stable. Such as peoples willingness to actually lend money. If you base a monetary policy on that. Your fucked. Period.

US industry stopped being powerful enough to support the US standard of living quite a long time ago. But that doesn't matter because 1) The dollar is the worlds currency, 2) The US uses it's military might to achieve economic aims. (The only country now that does. Land of the free. Heh, what a joke).

The difference in the current world is more and more countries are slowly achieving 'untouchable' status. I.E. nukes. and the Euro will be a serious threat to the dollars dominance. The Euro doesn't have to match or beat the dollar for this to happen, just make enough of a dent to spoil the automatic confidence everybody has in the dollar.

That will happen in my lifetime, fairly quickly I think, and the result is going to be interesting. Prolly more military intervention for economic gain such as Iraq, Prolly tightening of trade barriers. All of which just postpone the inevitable. The equalisation of the US economy with the rest of the world.

What is my source for this ? History. More times than you can imagine because the braindead, I.E. theking and his ilk are too stupid to learn from history. Tax cuts now!!! We will rule the world!!! My name is Bush!!! Re-elect me!!!

I try to stay out of political threads, because my political beliefs are based largely on emotion, and that doesn't tend to make for a good basis for argument...

BUT...though I tend (strongly) toward the liberal, I can't help thinking of something my dear ol' (conservative) dad has frequently repeated - and maybe somebody here with a bit more knowlege of economics can expound on this...the notion of the US Government's "debt" is something of a straw man, as that debt is internal - it's credit extended by US companies, or else it's in the form of T-Bills, which of course are investments that make money for US citizens. So it's kind of like saying you're family's broke because your ma loaned your no-good brother a hundred bucks, and he'll never be able to pay it back 'cause you own the note on his Ford...or something. Maybe. Hell, I dunno. I've been up all night. I'm tired and stupid.

i don't think juicy meant to create a political thread.. it was about the stupidity of the people, not the international politics..

Sheesh... makes me sadder each day at the thought they have less clues than I gave em credit for ....

We all know that the ONLY reason we invaded Iraq because we could and nothing more....

As for the most powerful, thats not really true. It might spend more money than any other country, but that doesnt make it the most powerful. Did you know that if the US and China were to go to war, 1 American Soldeir would have to kill 27 chinese soldiers, to have a fighting chance. Most powerful my ass....

Another thing, whats all this crap about the US wanting to get rid of weapons of mass distruction around the work. Yet secretary Rumsfeld said they have started testing Bunker Buster Nukes. Oh so the US is allowed to have Weapons of Mass Distruction but no other country is? Fuck that, if the US wants a WMD free world it should get rid of its 200+ nuclear bombs.
Too fucking right !!

Couldnt have said it better myself !

Who the fuck are you kidding..

Japans air force is 3 times the size of americas..

Chinas red army touted a whopping 1 million soldiers in 1800 and now exceeds more than 20 million soldiers..

Americas special forces are close to 5th on the best trained list.. I personally would take 10 Australian SAS againt 50 of your fucking navy seals any day of the week..

And those are just a few..

Anyone who thinks that america has the most powerful army in the world is niave.. If china were to invade america, they would take control of 1/4 of north america before american forces could put up a defense.. This has been proven by your own presidential military advisers..

Without nuclear weapons and biological or chemical wepaons, of which the amreican government provided biological samples like small pox and anthrax to the Iraqi government back in the haydays... Conventional warfare would come to who has the biggest population and who has the biggest industrial might.. which at the moment lies with china and japan..

So none of this america is the greatest shit, cause if it came down to it, you yanks would be fucked without your nukes !!

Thats my

Anyone who thinks that America doesn't have the world's most powerful military has deluded themselves.

How do you think China would even get a landing force to the US? They don't even have an operational aircraft carrier. US fighters and bombers would destroy any armada en route. China is still "studying" a scrapped carrier they purchased nearly 20 years ago.

China has made official statements that they are looking to develop the ability to sink a US carrier. Key phrase, "looking to develop".

China's airforce is antiquated and what they do have is of Russian origin and design.

How much value does China's "industrial might" have? China is a country that purchases their most sophisticated weapons systems from Russia. Migs vs. F15s? Now the US is building the F-22. Good night.

Industrial capacity is related to GDP not population. You can have a lot of people and no industry. America's GDP is about 10x China's.

Purchasing parity power will tell you a lot about the aggregate price of tea in China but nothing about their ability to purchase Russian made weapons with Renminbis.

China's currency is artificially propped up and tied directly to the dollar. Wait until China devalues the Renminbi to protect their trade surplus. There is continual talk of that.

GDP is a more accurate statistic. Take the word of the Chinese themselves. China's National Bureau of Statistics themselves predicts that China will grow to be the number three economy in the world in 2020 and the number two economy in the world in 2050. They could not grow to number two in 50 years if they already considered themselves to be number two. The fact is they are not. Their economy is about one tenth the size of the US's as evaluated correctly by themselves.
