OK.. it may not be the majority.. BUT!

(a) 41% of US think Weapons of Mass Destrution has been found in Iraq or were "unsure".

(b) 31% think Iraq had used chemical or biological weapons during the war - or were "unsure".

(c) 60% think those weapons were the main reason for the invasion.

(d) 19% thought the reason for war was because is was "Iraq's ties to al-Qaeda.

(e) 20% thought the war was "due to the fact that Hussein was an oppressive dictator".

Finally, based on the "knowledge" portrayed above, 75% said the US president was "showing strong leadership in Iraq"

Sheesh... makes me sadder each day at the thought they have less clues than I gave em credit for ....

Despite that, americans created and dominate IT world, technological advances, invented or helped promote many technologies you take for granted like cars and planes, are the world leaders in medical and biological research and currently control the most powerful army the world has ever seen, parked in YOUR backyard.

The "most powerful army" stuff is a funny.

Conventional weaponry only matters against 3rd world sand ****** despots these days. When it comes to countries who have a nuclear deterrent, it doesn't matter how weak their standing army is, the US can't and won't do shit.

Kim Jong Il, despotic dictator of a starving country, was able to make an ass of Bush and his army for that reason.

The lesson Bush taught every idiot dictator in the world with the Iraq conflict: get nukes ASAP.

ok 20% of americans head the technological advances, the other 80% think China is a city in Australia.

As for the most powerful, thats not really true. It might spend more money than any other country, but that doesnt make it the most powerful. Did you know that if the US and China were to go to war, 1 American Soldeir would have to kill 27 chinese soldiers, to have a fighting chance. Most powerful my ass....

Another thing, whats all this crap about the US wanting to get rid of weapons of mass distruction around the work. Yet secretary Rumsfeld said they have started testing Bunker Buster Nukes. Oh so the US is allowed to have Weapons of Mass Distruction but no other country is? Fuck that, if the US wants a WMD free world it should get rid of its 200+ nuclear bombs.

We were outnumbered in Iraq and we whooped major ass.

The Chinese are probably poorly trained compared to our soldiers. But, It would more likely not be a ground war though. I think we would win, with major losses though.
However, that war would never happen anyway.

You clearly ain't aware what is happening - there is a "war" going on that don't involve any of that US military scrap metal.

As for the US going "bust"? Hell, even your own treasury spent a long enough time compiling the most comprehensive report yet on the US economy.

This boiled down to a chronic federal deficit budget totalling $44 billion in current US dollars.

For simplcity... that converts to:

(a) roughly 10 times the publically held national debt

(b) four years of US economic output

(c) 94% of all US household assets

The suggested remedy? An immediate and permanent 66% increase on income tax across the board.

Currently only 13 States have a fiscally sustainable policy at this time.

What happened to this report? It was issued by the Treasury on the understanding it would be included in the "things" budget. However, it was place at the bottom of the "things" out tray in the hope of gathering dust. Anyways.. he could not understand it anyway! :Graucho

And... you seem to be claiming this is something that will not happen in my lifetime???? Not unless I drop down dead right now!

I peronally do no like having our current multi trillion dollar National Debt and I personally do not like the Congress running deficit budgets again...but the majority of econcomists say that carrying debt is not a problem as long as the percentage of GNP gorwth continues to be larger than the percentage of debt growth...and this makes sense.

An individual that carries debt can continue to carry current debt and increase his current debt as long as his personal income increases enough to carry increased debt.

The American GNP is still growing even though there is a slow down in growth...and this of course is not the first time there has been a slow down and will of course not be the last time.

Most of my life I have heard the doom sayers predicting ecomonic collapse...and the GNP is larger than ever and growing.

I repeat neither will happen in your lifetime.

The economy is still under going growth at the current time...and the debt being carried, or an increase in debt, is immaterial as long as the percentage of increased debt does not exceed the percentage of GNP growth.

This is simple to understand...but the Webbys of the world will continue to live in Webby land a choose to believe what they wish would be the truth.

theking 05-29-2003 11:19 PM

FYI...the President did not give a tax cut...the Congress did...a fifty-fifty vote in the Senate...with the Vice President breaking the tie...which means Democrats also favored the tax cut.

There ya go again.. trying to protect something that is nothing!
The facts are.. this is your own Treasury that compiled this report. It was not compiled in Webbyland - hell they could not give a shit!
This is a report that has been analysed by many countries/organizations and they ain't too pleased about having much "investment" in the US. So, if you have not noticed already, you may soon!

You seem to give a fuck...you are blaming all of your perceived problems the USA has on the President. An American President has very limited powers...and the real power lies with the Congress. The President has to have the approval of the Congress for virtually everything that he does.

If you find fault with the USA place the blame were it lies...with the members of Congress...Democrats as well as Republicans.

The economy has been in worse trouble in the past and survived as it will again. Economical ups and downs seem to be cyclic.

Greenspan is not the know all and end all...he is just a person trying to do his job.

You think it matters who decided on a budget?? I don't give a shit if it was Republican, Democrat, al-Qaeda or communists.

All this bullocks about the current "president" having "limited powers" is a joke! Again.. cummon.. reality check time! :Graucho

If you don't know already, the current "president" rules the roost on the basis of secrecy. Ideally he wants a blank check.. he asked for it - too bluntly - and got rejected. Now it is "grab as much as you can get" from Congress and mix all em "budgets" up to suit!

He also rules... "manages" would be a misuse - by cloaking himself up in the flag as some "war president" and poses on some tanks and shit metal. To create "respect" he maintains this "fear level" that "we can be attacked by demons" at any minute". Shit.. ya never heard of terrorists before?? Another reality check!

This is a "kinda" elected guy that fucked up Texas economically (and other ways) before he was "elected" - what hope you reckon you have???

As for the economy... yep.. I sure hope it recovers. But don't think you won't be left to pay the bill - that is that recommended " immediate and permanent 66% increase on income tax across the board". That is the price for having an idiot that creates more damage on a daily basis, (not just economically, but in many areas) than any other president has done in their whole term in office.

In a year...I'll keep this simplistic quote and think on it!

"Ecomonical ups and downs seem to be cyclic." :1orglaugh

They sure seem to be!! :1orglaugh
