First, it appears that 2933 MHz DDR4 R-DIMM is recommended for your Mac. Initially, when you had 112 GB, your Mac identified 4 sticks of 2933 MHz DDR4 R-DIMM, but with 240 GB, it's recognizing 0 sticks of 2933 MHz DDR4 R-DIMM.

Second, it's a 6-channel configuration. Just balancing equal amounts of total memory for slots 1-6 and 7-12 may lead to memory problems. Optimally, you want to match your RAM with the respective slots to reduce the possibility of errors, but even that is no guarantee. Match as best you can, the RAM's capacity, speed, timings, voltage and manufacturer.

The link from Colmike9 indicates the 32GB sticks should be in the odd slots.

When done, you may want to run a RAM test.

As soon as I added ram and rebooted my issues were resolved. So it must recognize and utilize it, but you're 100% right.

^ That's probably what is throwing it off.

I'm going to swap them around to the proper slots.

Mainly the adobe suite ( Premiere/After Effects/ Media encoder) editing large 4k video files while using Chrome with a bazillion tabs open.

If I had more than 20-30 tabs open while editing a video it would slow down.

Now I can open 500 tabs while editing video with zero slow down so it made a night and day difference.

I suspect the culprit is Chrome. I use a ton of extensions too and that thing is a massive resource hog.

You're welcome. If you're using new RAM, errors from misconfigured memory may not appear for a couple months until after burn in. Red flags include seemingly random shutdowns, software errors and corrupted data.
