A truer word you have never spoken.

No one gives everything away if it's got any real value.

It's tough at the moment, but we can fall back on the magazine sales. Those that can't are giving it away for 10%.

Think if it were selling in the first place would you give away 90% of the price? Give away 25% or even 50% but 90% on your whole inventory.

We gave away 2 free sets and got 5 new clients, plus 100 new registered users.

Yes content that does not have to be given away to make a living, content that is not everwhere on the Interent and of course his body.

Now there you get two for the price of one, beer.

You got to be a good shooter and a very good marketer to survive on Internet Content alone these days.

I think come the Fall there will be less competition around.

stupidest thing I ever saw was what went on last week. you cannot unring that bell, you can't drop prices and then get people to go back to paying regular prices - cuz all they are thinking is 'i'll wait around until the next time they're in a bind and pick it up for pennies'.

You are wrong, Mutt - SO VERY WRONG

... but I'm GLAD that you guys think this way!!!

You all seem to miss the boat when it comes to why this REALLY WORKED SO WELL!

GFY is only but a percentage of this entire industry. Sure, Cloud9Content exposed the offer to WAY MORE than just GFY - but we certainly did not reach everyone.

Fact IS Cloud9Content "set" sales have increased dramatically both during the BlowOut, and since the sale has ended!

Cloud9Content is thriving when most Content players complain it's slow

Think what you want ... facts are facts ... and another fact is you're clueless when it comes to this, Aaron.

It's ok though ... you ARE entitled to be wrong

BTW - don't forget ... I don't work for Cloud9Content. Never have. My company was contracted to handle sales and marketing. I have NO vested interest at this time, and NO reason to lie.

No reason to lie? How about the fact that your company was contracted to handle sales and marketing and if that fails or even appears to fail then it will look bad on you for potential clients.

I may not be an old time player in this game but I have been around long enough to know how things work and more specifically....The things that don't.

I occasionally offer a sale to my current client base and in the past I have even been known to offer a sale on the boards. I learned from this mistake. I still offer volume discounts but I refuse to shoot myself and other content providers in the foot by doing what a few providers did last month.

Content prices are low enough and the money is still there for the taking. No need to take it in the ass to promote yourself like what we have just seen.

I like you J...I have nothing against you...I am simply telling it like it is. Your comment about me being clueless was a bit out of line though. At least I can afford to buy a clue without dragging the rest of the content business down with me.

If I am so clueless about marketing and sales then how can I afford to travel to the number of shows and events that I have been to? Keep in mind that I do not get my way paid by my boss...I pay it on my own. How many people can say the same thing? Not too many.....

You gonna be in Montreal?

Granted. If it failed, then you might have a point.

FACT: It did not ... moot point

In this case you're wrong. It may not have worked with YOUR content, but it did AND DOES continue to work for Cloud9Content.

That's a matter of choice. Business is dog eat dog! It does not matter if you've been in this industry for 1 year or 7. You make choices that hopefully garner you the results you're looking for. In Cloud9Content's case, they got EXACTLY what they wanted.

... and quite frankly, I don't believe anyone got shot in the foot.

One thing has nothing to do with the other! We can agree to disagree.

Aaron, I'm glad you like me - but I'm not here to win a popularity contest. I can give a fuck less ... THIS IS BUSINESS!

Btw - Not that it matters, but I like you too ... kiss...kiss

Also, I think I was perfectly ON POINT ... you ARE CLUELESS when it comes to what went down, and how Cloud9Content's business has GROWN ... BOTH $$$ and its webmaster base ... AND the other opportunities to exploit the content that have made themselves available. YOU JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!

I think your statement about dragging down the content business is WEAK and without merit. If other companies can not compete than they SHOULD find a new business to be in. Dog eat dog, dude ... DOG EAT DOG!!!

Woof!!!!

How does that prove you're not clueless? Because you make enough money to travel to shows? The point was you're clueless about how successful the campaign was, and still is!

Stay on the subject.

Maybe if your first one had actually been successful then you could afford to go to Montreal instead of using a weak excuse like this.

I have a new feed coming out. You will all get it because it's better than anything else out there. You will need it because all your competitors will have it and you must have at least everything they do. And it will be amazingly affortable.

You will buy me drinks because I made you so much money.

And that's just June!

ahahahahhaha

You are fuckin' hilarious, man!!!

This is just more proof of how CLUELESS you really are!!!

Out of everything I said above THIS is what you pick to respond to?!?!?

I can't afford to go to Montreal because my Blowout was unsuccessful?

ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Aaron, if you know bullshit so well - it's probably because you keep falling in your own. Try to take your foot out of your mouth!

ahahahahhaha

Listen dude, if you want to know more about me ... how much money I make, which chick I'm banging this week, who I do business with, or whatever - I'll be more than happy to introduce you to all my friends and business associates at the next BIG tradeshow in Florida.

As a matter of fact, maybe I'll make a game out of it and just have all my friends intoduce themselves to you.

This could be fun!

Imagine ...

I'll have everyone come up to you, and tell you about their experiences with me.

They'll say things like "hey, you're that AaronM guy from GFY with that GREAT FULL PRICED CONTENT COMPANY, huh? I'm so and so, and I know Jonathan Silverstein can afford to go to tradeshows because ...."

You count how many people do that, and then you can decide if I'm a successful person LIKE YOU ... that can afford to go to tradeshows on my own, and pay for it myself!

LOL

LOL

Do what you like. I won't be at the Florida show. My clueless ass can't afford it.

Just for the record I am friends with both bald heads-

And both of you are crazy..........

Aaron I happen to know first hand how successful Jon's last marketing campaign was...I know because I referred a bunch of business to him.

Not only did Jstyles do unreal and make a lot of webmasters VERY happy- he made a mint!

It's ludicrous ( and I don't mean the rapper) to think otherwise...

I know Jon and I both bankroll our own travel to the shows, and I know why we pick the shows we do to attend. Inthis case both Jon and even my schedule is filled. I wish I could attend however it's not in the cards.

Jon not being able to attend tradeshows due to financial reasons is as crazy as saying Virtu Mike doesn't try to huck his content every chance he gets....

It's simply preposterous.

Now, let's just keep promoting everyone's content- whether it's at FULL price or

at J styles PRICE

I am done with this thread. We have made our points. One of us is probably full of shit and the other one knows it. It is up to the people of GFY to judge who is who for themselves.

Personally, I don't give a fuck. I was hoping for an intelligent debate from this thread but what it boils down to is a "my friends are bigger than your friends" mentality as presented by Mr. Styles.

I am not saying you are a bad businessman J...I am simply stating that you are hyping this crap a lot more than it deserves. This is not about selling for full price, it is about NOT HAVING to sell yourself or in this case your clients short just to earn a few bucks while devaluing the content at the same time.

THAT is basic business and THAT is what YOU are clueless about.

I'm out.

I ain't pissing in any pool-

I'd rather swim in it- at J Styles mansion ( Gary's) - I am off for the jacuzzi now :-))

If you forgive me for being a prick- I'll forgive you for shamelessly promoting your stuff as well

:-))

Ya know it's all love kids

stupidest thing I ever saw was what went on last week. you cannot unring that bell, you can't drop prices and then get people to go back to paying regular prices - cuz all they are thinking is 'i'll wait around until the next time they're in a bind and pick it up for pennies'.
And what about all the regular clients who paid the nomal prices.

One week the content has been sold to perhaps 20 clients at $20 is then sold to 100 guys at $2 a set. But if they sold it to 20 at $20 they would not have to give it away this week. So maybe they did not piss of too many.

It is simple, if you have a decent portfolio you do not need to give it away. The content business is so steady it's incredible, it goes up or down on a monthly basis 10-20%. You can always push it a bit by doing a special but that's it.

But if you give it ALL away you cann't go from offering the sets at $2 to $20 the next week. They are damaged goods, due to the number of sales done.

So you then have to reshoot an entire inverntory. For your information *these are averages* one fair-good girl turns up a week, you can shoot maximum 5 fair sets a day.

So a library of 700 sets featuring 20 fair girls will take 140 days to shoot and cost $9,500 to replace assuming you can shoot it at $500 a day which does not leave much for studio, equipment, staff, props, underwear, lighting, heating, electricity. A more realistic is $1,000 a day to produce a better quality product that means $19,000. Which is not much, but 140 days that's an awesome task.

But some people swear you can do it for less than $500. They just don't change any of the scenes a lot.

Our business is our portfolio selling it out week after week, we are not about to give it away for nothing.

Of course if you are not going out of business and need to raise extra cash for New equipment and props then you need.

2 Digital cameras & Lens = $6,000
1 video camera = $3,000
5 lights + accessories = $2,500
Assorted props = $2,000

TOTAL$14,000

Yes I can see why you would need to give away your entire portfolio to raise that kind of money. Assuming your work did not sell. If you are any good this is a couple of weeks turnover.

Oh and my previous post did not include correcting the images, that's 3 sets a day. 700 sets = 2 years of non stop correcting.
