DVDs.com sold for $10,000 down 97%. Who still buy DVDs?

From Namebio:

Quote:
The domain DVDs.com sold for $10,000 at Sedo for a decrease of 97%.
It last sold for $300,000 on April 2nd, 2008 at T.R.A.F.F.I.C..
Does anyone here still buy DVDs?

Sell them?

Produce them?

I stayed in a cabin recently with terrible internet and no cell reception, ended up renting a bunch of movies from a Redbox kiosk in town. Forgot that was a thing.

Still make some decent coin from DVDs. They're surprisingly resilient, at least here in the UK anyways. Probably more mature buyers, or people who like tangible content that they can store on a shelf and collect.

I do and there is a reason why they still release movies on DVDs / Blu-ray.

99% of movies that I want to watch are not available on Netflix and I also want to have them in my own collection.

If I was a company that provided DVDs, DVD-r, DVD-rw, etc. in bulk to other companies, it would be worth well over $10,000 to me.

I would think there is still the market for folks that are not Internet savvy. Though not sure those folks would be using DVDs.com for any purpose LOL.

I think the last DVD I rented was Thor. The only device I have that I could play a DVD on is my Xbox, I think?

thanks for this! haha I just ordered Fast 9 on blu ray. I didn't know it was out and turns out it came out 9 days ago. I own all 8 fast and furious movies.

this year was the first year I haven't bought a lot of movies because I broke down and got Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, and Amazon Prime. Before this year I only had Prime.

I agree to some extent. But you can also watch movies on You tube. Most of them are free or you can buy/rent a movie.

I hope that in a 50 years or so DVDs will be as rare and vintage as vinyl plates right now.
Holding some to sell them later

I do get annoyed streaming a high-effect movie that I know would be 1000% better if it was on bluray. We definitely sacrifice quality for convenience now.

I know what you mean. I just watched Fast 9 on Bluray and it reminded me why I bought a 12" sub and a 3-foot long center channel last year. The sound is so much purer on a good sound system.
