It's fine..this year..who wins the title deserves it,they staryed injury free, but will mean nothing unless they can back it up, period.

The best team, apple to apple, probally wont win..

I'd like to see the Mavs do it so that I can be at the riots in Dallas and tear some shit up and set stuff on fire. Other than that I just would really hope the Spurs or Nets don't win because I can't stand either of those teams.

welll then they were not good teams.. if they were so dependent on a few players... Robert Horry should have stepped up.. like he has done in the past... but just failed to do so...

Kings/Mavs was an emotional roller coaster... and yes.. may have been different in Cwebb was there.... but unfortunatly again.. shit happened... ya can't ever prove shit would have happened.. b/c it didin't.. plain and simple

The way I see it there are always "ifs" and there are millions of them out there when you start to say if this or if that then anyone else can say the same so ultimately it doesn't matter.

plain fact of the matter is, there are bumps in the road. the team that avoids those bumps, wins games and in this case series. now, with c-webb out, you can say dallas had a huge advantage. but game 2, c-webb wasnt out and the kings got man-handled...

noone knows what would have happened if c-webb had not gotten hurt. chances are, the kings would have won the series. but, once again, shit happens, the mavs won 4 out of 7 and are off to the w.c.finals against a very good spurs team. a spurs team, that the mavs tied the season series against, 2 games a piece... regardless of who wins, the winner wont come from CALI so we should all be happy about that.

what do they have to back up???

if the Ducks win the Stanley Cup... they deserve it... b/c no other team could step up and beat them .. in a 7 game series....

why is that so hard.. its not like the NFL playoffs where its a one game shot???

Lakers just had a bad year.... look back at the beginning of the season.. then look at the Mavs season...

the Mavs were smokin.. until "Novitski" got injured... ???

I belive the Mavs were like 24-0... or some shit like that... vs the Lakers worst start in a looong time...

also... the Lakers had a lot of emotional shit happening... Kobe's dad not invited to the wedding.. . Phil Jackson and his heart problems... etc.etc.etc... there were other things bringing them down.. they were just not "the best team" this year... sorry

I do think Duncan is awesome, and a class act.. I saw a Laker Spurs series that was really deceided by two close games. I did not see Spurs Dominance. No need to to go over details, i can accept the Spurs win..

The Mavs win on the otherhand.. was a gift..sorry

I got your gift right here behind my zipper Jake. No one gets a gift to win 4 games out of the best of 7 series twice now and to win enough games to have home court advantage in the first two series. So I really doubt any of this was a gift.

So, basically, the playoffs are a joke this year.. Here is to a healthy 2004/2005 season
well, I remember Manu Ginobili playing over one foot in the World Championship finals. Not as a way to say, but he LITERALLY played on one foot making little jumps. You know, world divides in men, women, trannies and pussies. Lakers ain't no man, ain't no woman. Choose: trannies or pussies?

now seriously, is Rick Fox that important? yeah sure

Just go cry your sorrow and leave this basketball thing for those who knows

another thing: if Lakers are so dependent of names, then they're not the best TEAM, but the franchise with more stars. Just that, it worked for 3 years, it won't work anymore. Poppovich and a few smart NBA coachs were following very close the FIBA championships and they realized that there's a different way to play, one most NBA players don't play. As long as the trick is new, they'll have an advantage over most teams, no surprise Spurs and Dallas are on conference finals. An example: Manu, 2 years in a row European MVP, an excelent offensive player plays defense with the Spurs. And therefore, on game 6, as Manu took Kobe, he made only 5 points out of his 20 total (when defended by any other player). He ranks #2 in steals and he is an offensive player! Just imagine if some defensive player took Kobe (or whoever). Until now, Bowen is considered one of NBA's best defensive players. Kobe made 13 with him on defense.
btw, Pop has put the eye in 2 guys from Argentina's team (Scola and Nocioni) to match up with Manu. They're inexpensive, they're good, eager for glory and with balls the size of a basket ball. If you have the luck to see them play, you'll understand what I mean when I say BALLS (USA team suffered them in Indianapolis), all with capital letters. If you really like basketball, do a search for these 2 players to find out what I'm talking about, specially Chapu Nocioni

wait a minute . . . . . all season they have been talking about how deep their bench is. Isn't it time for them to put up or shut up?

If they are so deep, what difference does one man make?

So how did we all know it was those 3 teams, do you really think the Mavericks were that much worse than those guys, this is a competitive league and anything can happen.
Kobe will never mention it, but he hurt his shoulder early in the playoffs. It did have an effect on him.

Fox, yeah, is an important part of the bench.

George was out for a couple games.

It is too bad that basketball does not do like what MLB and NFL does re: injuries. If a football team loses a quarterback in the finals they can put him on injured reserve and bring in a replacement so they always have a functional team

With NBA a team could be eliminated by injuries . . . . which brings up an interesting image of an NBA championship including teams that would plan a war of attrition.
