Anyone Else here who miss the beginning of the 90's.. Depeche Mode Violator..

In 1990 I was 17..

The world seemed so different back then..

I was listening to (Depeche Mode) Violator.. Drinking my 1st beers.. Getting drunk.

I miss those days. I just downloaded those videos on Kazaa.. I am drinking beer and watching all the videos..

One word :

NOSTALGIA

Everyone who feel the same...
1990-1991 What was your biggest souvenir?

Great times man... I remember just hanging at a friends house... that was doing somethign. The video for Policy of Truth was on all of the time.

My favorite souvenier... graduating from HighSchool in 91. I hated that fucking place. It felt soooo good walking out of that place for the very last time.

In 1968 I was 18. Listening to Hendrix, Led Zeplin, Doors, Jethro Tull, Santana, CSNY, Thw Who, Pink Floyd, Dylan, Free, Ten Years After, Moody Blues, Miles Davis, ELP, Canned Heat, Richie Havens, Jeferson Airoplane, Sly and the Family Stone, Family, Kinks, Stones, Clapton, Deep Purple, Black Sabath, Yes, Beatles, Faces, Supremes, Mammas & Pappas, Fleetwood Mac, Beach Boys plus a few more I can't remember, was stoned a lot.

And you had Depeche Mode. Do you ever feel you missed out?

yes. depeche mode was the only band in 1990, and none of us were allowed to listen to anything produced before then.

it was hell.

Music for the Masses tour was the first larger concert I ever went to. My best friend at the time was a little goth girl, and as a result I am a little too knowledgeable of 80s synth pop shit. I still own everything from the Cure, to Camouflage, to Yaz. sad state of affairs. Old mode is great. Anyone remember Love is a Shield? so gay but so good.

I was lucky to see Depeche Mode during the "Some Great Reward" Tour.....it was the summer between 7th and 8th grade if i remember correctly. Plenty more Mode shows after that, but that was first.

I'm sad i didn't get to see the earlier shows...Speak and Speak, A Broken Frame, all the best of old Depeche Mode. Oh well...i was to young back then.

Didn't know you knew NitzerEbb Quiet.....one of my all time favorites. Was lucky to catch them early on and see them many times live.

One of the best shows was seeing New Order and Echo & the Bunnymen together. I caught a Camouflage show a few times as well, but they hardly came around.

Surprised no one mentioned Red Flag.

I think I caught that same tour like it 89 or 90. I went to a DM concert in Portland, and Nitzer Ebb opened for them.

I think Im going to go download some Nitzer Ebb now.

i was 13 in 1990...soon after we had Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains, Rage against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Janes Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins, Blind Melon, Nine Inch Nails, Sunny Day Real Estate, Green Day(arguably), not to mention many others, as most of the ones that I listed were more mainstream

we had our own generation and its favorites?some of the best times in my life

until you can tell me that you went to lollapalooza ?94, don?t try to ?one-up? us ;)

btw, I like most of the bands you mentioned

It was around that time. I wasnt a big fan at the time, was only a little familiar with the material. I remember thinking "how good can a concert be with 3 guys on keyboards and some fruit dancing around?". It was damned impressive, even in retrospect I am impressed.

OMD opened. Hosanna, that was ass.

All that shit was, was the top 40 of the 60s.

All those suburb kids trying to shock ma and pa. No better than what Johnny Wigger is trying to do these days.

Hippies. Totally fucking over rated. it was a fad. fads are gay.

I take that back, not all fads are gay. hair metal was a shining moment in history.

Shoot, I was 15 then. Yeah, I was big into Depeche Mode... probably my most valued posession at that time would have been the porno mags I borrowed from my dad. Funny how things worked out!

Actually, at that slice in time I was a phat comic book dealer traveling around to conventions buying, selling and trading. Really, it was my first most noteable experience as an entrepreneur. I inherited a huge comic book collection from my dad who used to advertise in every one of them in the 70s...

So, my most valued posessions from then that I still have now would be a couple thousand comic books left in my collection from the 70's that have his ads in them. Many have his photo even.. Like the one below, those are the 'money' shots from the 60's.

91... I remember being in a dance club (got dragged there by some friends) looking at about 300 happy drunk prople dancing to shitty disposable dance tunes... and they had a big screen TV silently announcing the news... pictures of Israeli civilians donning gas masks as scuds were exploding in Tel Aviv... and the newscaster on the scene had a gas mask on as well.

Meanwhile, while the threat of a huge civilian population being gassed at that very moment was quite real, all of these happy dancing oblivious people around me were having a great time.

It was quite surreal.
