Content Producers..

..how many of you use film, and how many digital, for stills? For those of you who still use film (even if not exclusively), where do you go to have it developed and printed (and put onto CD if you do that as well)?

Most of the basic film shacks around where I live won't develop film with adult material on them, any suggestions?

i think most people are using digital now, but man film looks so nice when its lit right, and the photographer knows what he's doing.

we've shot on film, but had friends that worked at Eckerd's

I refuse to shoot digital, to me it still look 2 dimensional, to get 3 dimensional you need film.
It's a big job scanning all the pictures, but the outcome is worth it.
Someone told me that with the new 11 megapixels cameras the pictures look so much better than normal 6 M. But I stick to film.

Do you have any problems having your film developed in Prague? In the US, most shops will not accept adult-oriented film.

What he says, seconded.

Except if we are shooting for the net, but the best ones still come from the scanned slides.

No problem getting it developed here either. This is a forward thinking country.

You can compare it to film, but a slide can be scanned to as high a resolution as a digital image, plus as Michael says you have the flat 2 dimensional effect with digital but not film. Try printing a centrefold with a digital image.

Then the killer blow is, you get what you see with a slide. With digital it's what your screen shows you. A slight colour variation on your digital image or screen will throw out the whole thing.

We shoot all digital. All our work is for the web so film is pretty much a waste of time and money. 99% of the people out there couldn't spot the difference between film and digital if both shot on high quality cameras. Plus with digital you see what you get when you shoot, not days later.

For developing, check the pro labs in your area. Or find a pervert who works at one of the film shacks who will do it on the side.

What you can do is check around for the professoinal developing shops...the ones that don't generally cater to the consumer market.. You may have to pay to set up an acohahahaha with them, but most of them will accept adult material without a problem.

Oh, I should add, you're probably going to have the best luck FINDING these places by asking your local camera shops.. I'm sure you'll find that you're not alone shooting adult, and a lot of the people who shoot nude art type stuff have the same problem.. ask them where they get their film developped.

Myself, I ALWAYS prefer film, but because of the overhead involved, I generally use it upon request. I really dislike digital all-around. I am old-fashioned that way. I use only film for my mainstream work as well.

Since I only shoot for the web, I am happy with digital. I wish I had a camera better with low light situations, but there are digital cameras that would take care of that.

I have seen good results with a mid-level lighting package and 4 megapixel + digital cam.

It looks pretty slick and like film if you do it right...

For something totally glam, I could see using film stock. But for most others, digital is so much easier and less expensive.

interesting points but as a few have pointed out, we are not shooting for print (most often) so hi-res means diddly. digital is the shit for the web cuz you get immediate results & images w/out having to worry about developing or "finding" someplace that wont give you a problem or jack a copy of your images for their own purposes.

To use film for the net is crazy, its expensive and the avg consumer is using a old fifty dollar monitor. I think the quality of digital is pretty close for the work we do, we are not shooting landscapes for the museum lol.

do not use film....why would you unlless for stills. it is far too expensive nad nobody is going to zip up brcause the footage is not the degree of quality they like to see.

I do not see a reason to use film at all.

Even when I'm not shooting for print, I much prefer to use film when I can.. Chromes specifically.. Not only does the end product look gorgeous, you have hardcopy in case the worst happens, and it's much easier to prove copyright with an original. Those of course, are perks :P

I asked my local camera shop if they would do it. They had no problems as long as everyone looked of age. Did not even bat an eye when I asked. No extra charges etc.

I am also in a fairly small city, with lots of senior citizens and stuff.

But for fun look in the phone book under cameras or film, find some developers with a lil fish logo in their add, they will just love you.

Our attorney advised that when you drop off the film with the processor that they should have all documentation for 2257 since they would be liable under 2257 while the material is in their possession...

We use to shoot both, the slides we sent to the pussy magazines and the digital we used for the web. If you are going to use a digital camera I recommend that you don't cut corners and buy a cheap ass wal-mart special, because you get what you pay for....

LMAO,
When I first started shooting the internet 5 years ago, I was still using 35mm.

I was in a small Alabama town, so it took awhile, but I found a processor that loved to process my work...negs only for scanning

It was the Manager of the WalMart photo processing area. Next day turn-around, but the funny part is he was always carefully "inspecting the quality of the negs" when I came in to pick them up.

All digital now...slam, bam...give me more porn!!!
