Arachnophilia because it's simple, useful and free. I like the old EXE version better than the new JAVA version, though.

Cool Page because I can make decent websites despite my dismal HTML skills. CuteHTML is great for batch editing and basic tasks.

EditPlus
because it allows me to edit HTML and CGI direct on the server... I can do "open remote", "save as remote"... it keeps all my server passwords saved so I never have to FTP textfiles! No more FTP server timeouts Also it does color coding of Perl, PHP and HTML... it's a dream come true... Best of all it's free and only asks for money at startup... I should probably register it one of these days -- my most valuable tools EditPlus Opera WSFTP Putty Trillian |

I used to use Frontpage for everything and I just switched to Dreamweaver a couple days ago, and I like it better already.

Been using notepad from scratch, well editpad mainly ... it can open multiple files that's the difference.
WinEdit or something like that is supposed to be a good proggy, it's just as notepad but with multifile support and stuff like that. The important thing is it won't do any html for you and f*ck up the codes.

Most the important thing in HTML editor is for colour coding, indentation, ability to work with mulitple open files, good priview in your installed browsers. All that is needed.
So the winner is Arachnophilia, old version is very good. It really is HTML editor, not some program that write HTML from when you 'insert>image' ![]() |

I tried out a copy of Dreamweaver MX and ended up buying it. It make database driven dynamic content easy.
But one again, BUY A BOOK ON ASP, ACCESS/SQL, JSP, PHP, or what ever language/database you're going to be using and learn it. There is not substitute for knowing how to do what your editor is doing for you. |

It drove me nuts, it barked like Spacedog's website. I used notepad and then winedit for years, recently bought Dreamweaver and it rocks. As has been said though, knowing html is a definite plus, I've seen newbies doing really fucked-up designs with Dreamweaver.

for most jobs i use UltraEdit32, for others i use dreamweaver. used to use frontpage. but all the WYSIWYG editors they all add in all kinds of crazy fucked up code. like the retarded <p> tag. it puts it in everywhere, just like frontpage does. anyone still using that tag should be slapped. with a big rubber dildo.

I saw some people say EditPlus. I give that program two thumbs up If you want another super-good editing program, check out JEdit; it does pretty much everything EditPlus does, it is cross-platform and it has an awesome plugin architecture that gives you access to everything from compilers to a built-in telnet program. JEdit is the #1 overall editor, in my opinion, with EditPlus coming in second and Arachnophilia still #1 for HTML. Check them all out SpaceAce |

I use dreamweaver but it has a bug.
Some times when you cut and paste large html code it gets messed up and adds a lot of ?????????????????? inbetween. The combination with Fireworks is great

I started working on computers when I was 9 I am 33 now. I learned all of my languages by BBS's and sharing code to see how it worked. It's real easyto learn a language now. Just buy the book. Go to your local PHP script board and down load some tutorials and start learning. |
