HELP: My 8 years old site has weird result on Google search

If I search my target keywords on Google, my site always stay on page 1 but in a weird way.
Instead of mysite.com Google will list - mysite.com/page/5/. Why Google see my site on page 5 not on home page?

But if I search my site name, google will list the right way - mysite.com

Can you guys tell me whats wrong with my site? Any suggestion how to fix this? I'm trying to nofollow or noindex page/5/ on robots.txt but I'm afraid all the lniks or titles inside page 5 will not index by Google.

Thanks

Google probably just finds a banner farm on homepage or warning page feel lucky they still list content.

No, its just a typical wordpress theme that actually I'm using for my other sites. Only has 3 banners like my other site had.

Also no problem if I search the site title.

I have the same problem .. main page ignored, instead Google lists a category page. No banners at all. The main page is almost identical to the category page.

Move content from page 5 to index because it's obviously ranking better for the keywords? Or what does it matter as long as your site is ranking no matter the page? If page 5 is interesting enough they'll click "home" or whatever to see more.

Is your site HTTPS? Are all the sites ranking before yours HTTPS? Google's last update gives HTTPS preference. Lots of sites bumped to page 3,4 or 5 for no HTTPS

It's duplicated content issue.
Just add noindex tag to page 5 and all other subpages.
Your homepage will rank again.
You can PM me your site URL, I will take a look for free ;)

It's nothing new and let's say it's quite normal. Google just sometimes decides to lists some sub-page of your site instead of homepage for your main kw because for some reason(s) it finds it more relevant. Just do a search for "porn", you can see that big tubes like xnxx and xvideos have listed some sub-pages for this kw and not homepages. IMO this might also have something to do with the behaviour of your site visitors and the way you are trying to "fix" it can probably do more harm than good.

What about dynamic pagination?

Maybe a few websites now link to that page? Check the inlinks for both pages.
