I am to be denied my right to own a gun as I have done since I was eight years old because some nut case shoots a hand full of people. No fucking way. I come from the 2nd most armed country in the world and we have 0 mass shooters...nobody fires at random people ever...america averages 1 mass shooting per day in 2016...

in the last week 2 people in my country were killed by cops and it was an outrage...one had a bomb and 10 hostages and shot at police with 2 guns...another rammed a police car and went str8 for the police with his car...our police had no reason to shoot at anybody for years and it is a hot topic in my country...2 dead...complete criminals but still its a scandal...

Fortunately I don't live in Somalia where a 8 year old can buy a gun. I lived in Soviet Union and I started a firearm shooting practice when I was 9 year old (in my country you absolutely don't need to buy a gun to get shooting skills). It was .22LR MCM. I don't see any problem with self protecting weapon (shotguns and semiautomatic riffles). As I said above they are legally sold in my country as well (even via Internet). The thing I don't understand is why assault riffles are available for the US civilians. Why not BM-30 Smerch for example?

If you sort it by the homicide column then Mexico is almost twice the rate of the US. 60% of the US rate is made up of suicides. And don't forget the US also has a very large gang violence problem. If you take gang related homicides out of the equation the US rate would be similar to Canada's.

People live and people die and they do so from a multitude of needless reasons/causes. It is a heartless fact of life itself, people cannot be protected from every needless death or madmen. Also it is an on going effort to make guns safer to own and improvements are put on the market each and every year. I do not approve of people dying needlessly and I agree that across the counter sales of guns or weapons in general should be improved upon as much as possible, but it is not possible at this point in time to see into the hearts/minds of people to see what they should be allowed to own or not own a gun or any device that can be used to intentionally cause the death of another.

A relatively small percentage of deaths are lost each year in America by intent and right now the biggest loss by intent is via a gun. If the guns could be done away with and no one any longer owned a gun in the U.S., which will never be the case, then there would be another weapon of choice and etc. Surely you do not think that needless deaths can ever be prevented.

well they banned carrying guns in my country (we are #2 in the world with gun/capita) and the crime levels dropped...you can own a gun and keep it at home, but carrying is a bitch and is super hard to get a carry license...there is no way you can get a military rifle...no way to get a semi-auto...you can get a double barrel hunting gun tho...maybe a shotgun...did not check, do not care...

Your analogy sucks, but about 90% of the time they do. You verge on the ridiculous side of things more than not. In Russia one license gives a right to buy two firearms (e.g. one shotgun and one semi-automatic riffle). What are your country's demographics? If we removed 3-4% of a specific segment of our population we would reduce violent crime by 50% ....Think about that in a population of 325,000,000...a 50% reduction.
