uh, we see a whole lot more of the "look at the cool rims I bought for my Geo" newbies than we do the hasbeens.

I don't know of a single legend who's made less than younger guys. I guess its good for you kids to think that though.

I dont know who told you, but You should be to a degree, Have you seen JennysBookmarks.com lately? Grew to about 350k in about a month and a Half. Trades with alot of the same sites you do, I realize the traffic may not be the same calibre as yours, but even so, you are getting the traffic.

Another Example, SexOcean, Everyone cried Hitbot when they take over the sextracker rankings, all newly scripted etc, I am not saying you are terrified, but its not a good sign for things to come.

Hey " Old School Guys!!!! "

I am somewhat new and would love the help and advice!!!

Any new person that thinks that they can not learn from you is stupid!!!

There is nothing wrong with a new guy taking someone information, help ( given freely ) and expanding on it. But the new guys need to remember one thing. There is one reason that OLD SCHOOL is still here!

Am I right??

some people are worried about the clicks - more and more of the older sites now are starting to count ONLY productive traffic on trades - fuck the raw count.

Kimmy,

I can can count on one hand, the newbies that came onto my board back in the day that made it really big. Some made it mediocre, make a good living, some stayed where they were, happy with the money the made.

95% of them are gone, never to be seen again. You think just cause there's new ways to move traffic (which isn't really that new, ask Colin) around or different ways to market paysites is gonna change anything?

Delusional. What is the definition of Insanity?

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Man do you know how many Newbies have come and gone? I can only think of a TINY handful who have made it to the upper echelons.

Most newbies, come on like a super nova, then fade out. There are literally thousands of people who came in thinking they were going to light the world on fire, and are now back working at McDonalds, hiding from the state child support services....

Old School webmasters tend be conserative because they are established and have more to lose - but I think they also have the resources, and ability to reinvent themselves. I see it all the time.

Of course some Old School Webmasters have so much money, they do not give a shit....

Most of the guys who have been in this biz for a long time have diversified into a lot of deals besides adult entertainment. Even in the 900 business which I focused on for well over a decade we made more money from our non-adult programs then the adult ones. The adult stuff has always been and still is loads of fun. I guess growing up in the generation when Playboy first started every kid wanted to be like Hefner one day, with the mansion, the girls, the carefree lifestyle.

I personally like people new in the biz. They bring fresh creative and innovative ideas to the table. I try to surround myself with as many young partners as possible. Most of my partners in my adult and non-adult businesses are in there 20's and 30's. They also have way more energy.

I do think TGP's are beneficial in many ways and detrimental in others. The best things TGP's have done is flood the Internet with free porn. Some would say this is not good for our industry. I disagree in that it facilitated massive amounts of new porn addicts. Yes they won't make anyone a dime now, but one day they will buy something as the cravings get more and more fixated on each person's particular niche fantasies that satisfy them. Porn is like what guys selling drugs do to open new markets. You have to hook new customers in with free tries.
Once they get a taste of it, they are addicted and want more to satisfy their cravings which become insatiable for most.

On the negative side, I think TGP's could accomplish the same result if they would limit the amount of pics that enlarge. Even cutting back to half of the thumbs on a page requiring membership would enhance sells. So many guys are only hurting their bottom line by giving more away than they need to.

Debbie Fields of Mrs. Fields cookies is famous for saying "All it takes is one sample of my freshly baked cookies and I've got a new customer."

Also, on the negatie side, TGP's become a fixation for many webmasters. So instead of broadening their marketing horizons they get locked into I got build more and more galleries. There are a lot of other ways out there to generate traffic and revenues.
You can also take the base traffic you already have and refine your conversion rates.

Anyway, to me, the more newb's the better. It makes us old timers stay on our toes, and I for one enjoy the challenge of boxing in the marketplace with them. Keeps the game exciting and fun.

The best advice to you new guys is as soon as you start making money diversify and invest in non-adult businesses also so you have income coming in from all sorts of deals.

And whatever you do never ever qive up and quit. Persistence is the key to success in any business.

Hey Pipecrew;

What better hobby could an oldtimer ask for?

It sure beats lawn bowling.

It's sure great to know that the future of this business is alive and well with the younger crowd and with people like you at the forefront ready to lead them into a new "dimension of sight and sound".

ROFLMAO

Things change a little but not much.

If you newbies know whats up then you would be sending traffic to our download plus program.
for our one way messanger. cause you don't lose traffic and you make a shit load. why is it all the old school guys are pushing it and not the newbies? maybe because they have traffic?

you could be Old school or New school but if you don't have traffic. who the fuck cares

When will you yo-yos learn that we're not in the "porn" business (= bad guys), we're in the adult business. The gambling (excuse me, gaming) industry learned the importance of terminology years ago, and the fact that you guys haven't learned it yet is evidence that you have a long way to go.

Now, I'm 57, I own an "adult " site, and everybody knows it. The fact that you think a "porn" site is just a phase in your development that eventually you'll grow out of like you'll grow out of wanting to dress like all your age peers indicates you are possessed of a certain degree of self-loathing.

95% of them are gone, never to be seen again. You think just cause there's new ways to move traffic (which isn't really that new, ask Colin) around or different ways to market paysites is gonna change anything?

Delusional. What is the definition of Insanity?

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
I didn't mean every newbie would pass you up. That's obviously impossible. My original post was directed at the webmasters who are so stuck on what they do to make money that they think it's the only way. They bash every newbie, every new idea, and anything they aren't doing to make money.

There are many veteran webmasters that have what it takes to make it in any market and there are new people in the same category. Usually program owners fall into this category because when you have an affiliate program you of course work with new webmasters on a regular basis.

And about doing the same thing over and over, I of course advertise the way many other webmasters do but I also have traffic sources that are completely different than what everyone else is doing. I just make it a habit to keep what makes me my bread and butter to myself rather than brag about it and have 10,000 people copy it within the year. Hell, I started this business in January 2001 part time and I still get traffic from sources with no competition.

I'm not saying that even the most hard-assed verteran webmasters aren't making money because of course they are. But you see some that keep making less and less money and do nothing to fix it. That's part of being in business, if you bottom line starts dropping because your competitions is flooding the market, etc you have to be able to compensate. Some just sit here bitching about how much shittier their sales are compared to a couple of years ago and bash everything that is a threat to their income when they should be taking steps to compensate before the first drop in revenues ever touches them.

Anyway, the majority of webmasters get the big picture and a small percentage are sitting on a decent stash of money they made in the "good ole days" but make less and less every year. And instead of doing something different they bitch about how stupid newbs screw up their business. That's the entire point.

Hahahaa, put the crack pipe down. The guys that were kicking major ass 3-4 years ago still are for the most part. They have the traffic and they run it amongst themselves.

In this business there are tiers to success, and the very top tier is still pretty much the same crowd that's been sitting there for years.

Truthfully, for every one person that is cranking decent clicks/signups, there are 10 whose stats show "0.00". I am sure most of those guys had big hopes and dreams of having millions flowing in with little or no work. It didn't happen in the first week, so they quit.

But part of this thread is correct.... even the most long-term webmasters should know that being "stuck in the old ways" isn't always the best gameplan. Being adaptable and open to new concepts is the mark of a true survivor in this biz.

Thing is... many of the "old-schooler's" (and "middle-schoolers" like me) already know this...... which is why we are still around and living off the avails.

I'm not talking about the pioneers of the industry sitting on millions of dollars and know how to keep a business profitable. I am referring to the people that made decent money and a few that hit in the millions that think they are king of the world and nobody else can touch them yet they bitch about anything and everything.

This is especially true for some large TGP owners that think they are something amazing. But we don't know any of them do we?

Many know it and some don't. I'm talking to the ones watching their checks get smaller and smaller who beat off to the old days and cry on a regular basis about TGP's etc.

Haha, you crack me up Shemp. However, could you please stop giving away free porn? You're just killing the market for the rest of us.

Pipecrew:

Thanks, I passed that along to my partner who owns that one.

I'm not the one who posted this thread which was designed purely and maliciously in it's own mean, small, way to get people to butt heads.

You did post this which mirrored the original bullshit vein:

"I somewhat agree with stocktrader, too often we see these old timers coming and talking about shit that nobody cares about, they are living in the past and holding on to these memories of when they use to "be on top". Its fairly sad as most of these people are only a legend in there own mind. If they had made as much money as most of them claim daily, they should of long retired but instead they keep putting out there boiler plate sites and cursing the younger guys who are making better sites that they end up copying anyways. (bangbus, cumfiesta, collegefuckfest) etc.

Porn is evolving into a business that is owned more by younger people, We are starting to see a phasing out of alot of the older "legends"..

Who really wants to be in there 40's and say they own a porn site anyways? You will be known as the block pervert and the guy that has one pair of jogging pants."

I honestly don't see very many of the "old boys" posting anywhere at all. I think they are raising their kids, sending them to private schools and giving them every advantage that their porn money has enabled them to do.

Seems to me that the newbies are trying to become legends within and without their own minds and i'm more than willing to kick back, drink my prune juice and watch you make fools of yourselves.

I'm also willing to listen to any new thread and any idea that will make my hobby more interesting, newbie or otherwise.

I also see that threads like this are becoming more the norm that the new wavers have to work with:

"Stolen Cell Found in Theifs Vagina"

"Can you go back to real tits from fake tits? "

"Post your fishtank"

"Ever accidently touch dicks during a 3some?"

I don't remember these discussions before lawn bowling became my only passion.

Not sure where to start...

Ok first a bit of background. I'm a newbie.
My business partner came up with a killer idea for a pay-site so we decided to diversify into the adult world. We are shooting content currently for 2 of our websites and 2 others. We also provide video service as well as content sales. Or service business does very well.

So i was given the task of how to get trafic and how to sell on the net. So far Im lost. (hahahaha) okay enough about me.

I can go to kazaa right now and download EVERY bangbus episode most mike appartments episode every ilovebowjobs ect ect ect...

I dont think that oxcash is worried. I dont think there sales have suffered to much from this. Does it hurt, yes sure..but not everyone uses kazaa or even installs it or even wants to deal with shitty download rates (most of the US is still dialup)...

Ok and hey if that does not get me off I could go to irc and get password lists for any site I want..

Does this hurt the industry FUCK YES bandwidth gets expensive.
But this has to be assumed when you deal with the industry that this will happen and you have to be prepared for it.

Of course the casual surfer looking for free passwords and free porn cant find these things, and get cought in marketing traps.

But im sure someone has downloaded a bangbus video on kazaa and then signed up for the site... I guarentee it...

What i dont understand is CJ trafic...jerk the surfer from TGP to TGP passing him off through the scripts does not seem like a way to get them excited about wipping out there credit card. So the old school non script traiders seem to do much better with there customers (yes sleazy dream seems correct in this) its so much more productive.

We work in an industry that in nature has had a few problems
- The value of a dollar. Someone from a foregn country can play the numbers game and when they hit, its a good sum for them due to there conversion rate...35$ goes a long way in some countries
- There is a shit load of free porn on the net....thats a given, hell i know people who just surf the hun to get off...
- It is in general a numbers market in the world of galleries

If these things are not factored into your business plan your doing something wrong...

Oh yea...and remember this, not every marketing tactic has been found, not all ideas have been used but this is a saturated market but that does not mean its not possible to survive in a saturated market...

but isn't a vast majority of the stuff on Kazaa stuff we've already given them off a TGP someplace ? maybe this way the freeloaders won't be burning our bandwidth for nothing ...
