It hasn't dropped below 32C here very often this summer and I love it lol. You are right tho, my parents were just visiting and they did say every day "holy shit it's hot" but you go on holiday from Scotland to get that because we certainly don't get it there. To each their own, I just know that 30C in January is a blessing because I know what I'm coming back to for 8-10 weeks and it certainly isn't close to 30C

I use to be there as stopover when I go to Hong Kong for example. I suggest 2 o 3 days. Never in boreal summer. It's a nice place, safe and with tons of things to do.

Sky Dubai is great. People is cool, you wont have any problem there, just respect the rules and have common sense.

"Reem Al Bawadi" (which is on Sheikh Zayed Road, the main road of Dubai)

This one is famous in all of Dubai. They have nice comfy sofas and you can smoke bongs here (if you're into that). The food and decor is amazing and it wont break the bank either.

You went in a good month. 30°C in January is great of course.

The heat problem is in the summer months, when it goes above 40°C often - plus there's the humidity. I haven't been in the summer, but apparently people don't even go to the beach on such hot days, only in the evening.

Dubai will be one of the hottest places on earth in the summer - don't forget that it was a desert before it was a city. Heat approaching 50°C in summer is not uncommon and the humidity will absolutely kill you. Of course they don't go to the beach in summer, the sand will burn you! The best (and only in my view) months to go are December or failing that, then January.

December will average around 26°C (ish) and is ideal because you can enjoy the Christmas celebrations and the new year fireworks which are always spectacular.

Dubai isn't insanely expensive and it offers the whole range of hotels from the very cheap to 7 star and none of which is particularly far from the central area (Sheikh Zayed Road). If you want to know some suggestions, feel free to ask...

Been there for business as I had to go, but I fundamentally have a problem going to a place that strips basic human rights just so I can see a shiny new mall. Would never live there. Yes, so true - too many people have totally the wrong idea of Dubai because of what they read in the papers. Just goes to prove there no substitute for actually going to a place.

You can drink as much as you want as long as you do it in the right places. There are escorts and hookers all over the place in Dubai, the clubs and bars are full of them. There is one down by the marina which is always absolutely packed with them, I forget the name but it has a reputation for it.

A large contingent of the freelance girls are Russian and you'll find a large number of the hotel occupants in Dubai are Russians. It's also a popular destination for Russians in a general way as a holiday destination.

I find its a nice addition to the environment to see lots of sexy Russians floating around ...

The same applies to the "news" about Dubai. Just go there and you'll find out they don't care about foreign gays or lesbians. It is forbidden to have gay sex... for locals. It is forbidden to drink vodka... for locals. It is forbidden to have sex with a prostitute... for locals. It is forbidden to eat pork... for locals. It is bidden to walk with open face... for local women. As a tourist you are an exception from these rules.

Just an example of something which is a crime in my country and in your country too. When my buddy was stopped by Dubai police, he was DUI (not drunk in shit of course, maybe a bottle or two of beer). The Dubai cop told him he feels the smell of alcohol. The buddy just asked him: "are you Muslim?". The cop answered "yes, of course!". The buddy said: "so how do you know the smell of alcohol?" After that he was released. And that's not a joke. That's a real story.



P.S. Dubai is one of the most popular traveling places for Russian tourists who are known for breaking the rules, having a lot of sex, drinking alcohol, smoking etc. They known for everything... which is forbidden in Dubai. But somehow they have no problems in that country. How come?
