Does anyone disagree that the US have more murders by handguns than other civilised countries?

Seemed like an interesting/useful topic for a documentary. See I just thought US had more guns than other countries and that explained it. His spin was that the media play a role. The basic points he made in the film were good, sure he gets preachy though.

At the Spirit Awards he got about as many "yeah's as he did boo's". I just don't understand why anyone takes Moore seriously. He is a humorist and does not take himself seriously. He is about entertaining and has found his niche.

I watched the awards for like 20min...and caught this part....

I have to admit I was pretty impressed....and when they cut to the crowds faces....you can tell some of those people wanted to cheer.....but they would only get work in the Michael Moore film, lol and thats it!!!

You can now guarantee that about 3million more people will go to see the next 'documentary' he makes just to see what this guy is all about (for those that had never heard of him)

Whether he meant to or not...he just reassured the success of his new couple of films, pure marketing genius or just your usual pompous fanatic?

Did the government threaten Michael Moore? Are they going to kill him? Is his family in danger by the government?

How does any of this deny him Freedom of Speech? The Academy Awards is not a public event. If it was, I would be there. It's a private event. They can restrict Freedom of Speech all they want. The directors and producers don't want that shit on their hands. Can you blame them? Isn't that THEIR right?

I think Nicole Kidman was trying to say something as well, but she skirted the issue, and youre right, working on a Moore film will not pay the huge bucks some of these guys make.

Michael Moore is idiot. Does he really have any credibility? He lost all credibility in my book back when he said that he truly believed OJ Simpson was innocent.

That being said, who the hell cares what he said at the AA? If he wants to make himself look stupid, then fine, so be it. If someone got up there and said, "All you Hollywood liberals can kiss my ass. I think Saddam is a brutal dictator that should be deposed and I support our troops damn it!" Most people who support the war would think it was a great thing to say.

You can't just defend speech you agree with. That's too easy. Frankly, I'm surprised how many people, particularly given our profession, seem to be so opposed to freedom of expression.
