Tonight Republican debate AKA the Shit Show

I watched the first couple hours of tonight's debate while working (it is still going on), and it is almost painful to watch.

Cruz and Rubio are so desperate they are attacking Trump every time they open their mouths and are making themselves look silly. Carson puts you to sleep as soon as he starts talking. I also get the feeling he is struggling mightily to keep the batshit crazy under wraps. Kasich seems like a decent guys with some good ideas, too bad he has no hope in hell. Trump is being Trump. He is slapping Cruz and Rubio down like they are a couple of lap dogs trying to steal a bite of his food.

Every exchange ends with an attack on Trump, Trump attacking back and we repeat the same shit over and over again. It's sad.

I don't even bother watching. I just read the cliff notes afterwards.

Much to my surprise, I believe Trump is going to be the Republican nominee.

Kasich seems like the most "normal" one of the bunch at first but when you Google him you start to learn about all the anti-abortion and anti-planned parenthood bullshit he did. Yet another hopeful in the race who doesn't deserve to be President.

Rubio prepared a lot of zingers against Trump and for the first half of the debate he got the better of him, and it helped that Cruz also ganged up on Trump as well as the moderators. Plus there was that crazy chick who had an orgasm every time Rubio said something. So Rubio in the first half came out looking strong. Then the second half started and Rubio kept trying to fire off those sound bites and after every single statement the audience applauded like hell, so the audience came off looking like it was packed with Rubio shills and relatives and Rubio came off looking desperate. Trump absolutely destroyed Ted Cruz (Cruz is probably on suicide watch as I post this) and got some shots back in at Rubio, and after the debate he branded Rubio as a 'choke artist who constantly sweats'. Now Trump will be targeting Rubio like crazy on Twitter and at rallies. The race at this point is Trump vs Rubio and Kasich looking for a VP spot.

Kasich pretty much said we should go to war with North Korea. I don't know why people think he's moderate just because he goes "shucks, golly gee, guys" whenever he talks.

Not even, or at least, not any more.

When he was first making headlines getting into the race, I watched him. Rude, crude, funny, and not serious in my opinion.

But now, he's rude, crude, totally serious, and not funny at all. He has turned the entire process into a circus. I don't like most republican politicians but now I feel bad for them. Yes Cruz is a prick and yes Rubio is in the pocket of the Kochs and yes everyone else are terrible too, but Trump? Holy shit. He is already making the world hate him and if he was to get elected he would undo everything.

Then again, maybe Trump is doing a good thing for democrats. I said in the past that if Cruz was to win the republican nomination, he would have a great chance of beating Hillary. Cruz is a rotten person, but I think deep down he's super smart and could win every debate against Hillary Clinton.

Trump on the other hand...

Here's what I predict:

Trump will win the republican nomination.

If he faces-off against Bernie Sanders, Bernie will do a good job but I bet he will lose his temper at least once as Donald Trump tries to get the better of him and push his buttons with stupid talking points and insults. It might be a super close race and I think Sanders might lose in those debates.

But if Trump goes against Clinton, she will completely keep her composure, remain completely lady-like and statesman-like, and on knowledge alone, beat Trump who's only ammo is passionate one-liners. Hillary would win those debates.

When it comes down to the election, Both Bernie or Hillary will easily beat Trump. I think. I hope. Gawd....

funny she is so good at debating DNC worked to ensure as few debates as possible, scheduled when nobody would watch.

she actually has little useful debating experience, & is very bad when improvising. trump can be offensive when improvising to be sure. But hilary really doesnt know what to say. It's just a core problem with the GOP at this point. All they know to do is attack because it's all they have done the last 7 years.

They have no solutions and can only provide 12 second sound bites. Kasich or Paul are the only two sensible guys they have. (I don't know much about Kasich but he at least seems more intelligent than the others)

I watched the 1st two R debates then the one prior to this and they are like watching re-runs. Nothing new, no plans just attack each other or bitch and whine about Hillary or Obama. Rinse and repeat.

The GOP is dead.. They have nothing to bring to the table and that's why a moron like Trump is stealing their center stage from them.

I completely fail to understand the abortion thing. Individual thoughts about abortion is a religious thing, and we have very clear separation of church and state here in the US. Someone's religion cannot decide what someone else does with their body.

I have to disagree with you on this. Yes, the issue has been veiled in a shroud of religion, but I don't believe it's about religion at all. I feel it is an issue of morality and who has the ultimate decision when it comes to ending a life. I understand how abortion is a fundamental necessity for progress within any given society (Freakonomics -- great book), but then you have the moral issue of taking a life.

Some late term abortions are done months before the baby is to be born. If the baby is aborted inside the mother at 6 months, pro-choice people are fine with that. But if a doctor walked up to a newborn at 9 months and slits its throat after delivery, then he's a cold blooded murderer. I've always been on the fence in regards to abortion. I know it's a necessary evil, but on the other side of the coin, I can't agree with taking a life. My daughter was supposed to be aborted. I look at her every day and think this magical little princess almost never was. And that breaks my heart.

The pro life movement believes that life begins at conception. I disagree with this. Life begins with the first breath.

And that is what the big debate it about. Life. Not religion. It just so happens that most Christian groups are pro-life, but that doesn't make it a religious issue. You yourself just stated that it's about life, and therefore a moral issue. Some believe it's at conception, some feel it's at first breath. It's an extremely polarizing and subjective topic, and I'm sure we can debate it for hours. I don't disagree with what you posted in this quote, I was simply disagreeing with your post in regards to separation of church and state by using abortion as an example.

They have NO business in anyone's bodies. And yet they make drug laws that make you a criminal for getting high. The govt. has been out of control for a long time now.

They don't answer to us anymore. We answer to THEM.

Not really. They said the same things every republican says: cut takes, reduce regulation, less government etc. As far as actual plans, they didn't really have much to offer there.

I found it insightful that Rubio kept asking Trump what his "plan" was over and over. What "policy" would he have for health insurance?

Trump told him again and again...eliminate the laws that keep insurance companies from competing across state lines.

That's really all that is needed. It's not rocket science. The govt. deliberately put things in place decades ago at the behest of Big Insurance spending hundreds of millions with their lobbyists.

One of the things they did was making it "illegal" for companies to compete with each other across state lines.

Some things don't need complicated plans and schemes. Because they are CAUSED by the govt.
All you have to do is simply change that law to achieve that part of Trump's plan.

That is just a "for instance". I'm not sure if some people just want to hear policy wonks sit up there and talk in circles and double-talk/"Washington Speak"...but from the polling numbers and the votes so far, people are waking up to that shit and realizing that many of our problems are caused by govt. policies that were put in place by politicians getting hundreds of millions of dollars from special interest groups.

I'm not crazy about Clinton, but she looks like she has her shit ten times more together than all of those clowns combined.

That was an interesting moment. Most of them have these complicated plans that sound just like Obamacare by a different name. Trump just wants to eliminate the red tape and let the free market handle it and have the government help those who are sick, old, disabled and can't help themselves.

I hear what you are saying, but still - I think that if Clinton & Trump face-off, she will be the one to stay calm, answer questions properly, and possibly even not insult trump.

Then again, I am seeing Clinton <=> Sanders debates starting to get ugly too, which is too bad. I hope they can remain adults.

Me too! This really baffles me. I understand differences of opinion but some seem to go way out of their way to kill any possibilities for abortion. Even murdering abortion doctors. I'll never understand that.

I think she will do just what the Republican candidates did: Look small next to him.

Hillary looks small when her husband Bill is onstage with her too. And I'm not talking physical size.

There's a reason she spent almost her entire adult life behind the scenes. She doesn't have that leadership quality about her.

Hell, she was the presumptive next President in 2008 and lost to a Junior Senator with only 2 years experience and an unfortunate middle name.
This election she's having trouble against an old man who is a self-proclaimed socialist.

She's not a good candidate. And if Trump has proven anything...it's that he quickly became a better candidate than every Republican running. He adapts and learns fast...completely proving all the "pundits" and political analysts wrong.

I don't think Hillary would stand a chance against Trump either in the campaign or on a debate stage.
Now BILL vs. Trump would be a good matchup. He has that leadership quality and likeability factor as well.

But Hillary just doesn't have it.

This is my prediction:
If Hillary doesn't win the Presidency...Obama will give her a Presidential Pardon for all of her crimes (because the next Republican President is going to put her in jail for it).
And when that happens...it's going to be very bad for the Democrat Party as a whole.

Hillary was a horrible choice to lead their party.

That's just my prediction. And my opinion from looking at the situation.
She is literally running this campaign to save her life. If she loses she either ends up in jail, or with a full Presidential Pardon which will besmirch her for the rest of her life.
