ABC interviewed a *middle class* muslim from Jordan who got his education in the US.
He said that after watching the US attack iraq, he could see himself terrorist attacking the US.

Historically, a large percentage of Jews have been liberal. This is starting to change, but still something like 80% of Jews are democrats.

Almost the entire left is anti-Israel. That's a fact. Maybe not in LA, but in the rest of the world.

On the left, you have:

Compassionate Liberals: Many of whom are Jewish. They tend to oppose Israel because they mistakenly think of Israel as having been settled exclusively by European Jews, so they think it's colonialism. They don't realize how much of Israel is Mizrahi or Sephardic Jews who are racially indecipherable from arabs and escaped persecution or were ethnically cleansed.

Then, you have your anti-globalization, anti-western, near communist leftists, who believe Jews control all the global financial system, political system, etc. They hate Jews period. One would like to think they comprise a small minority, but unfortunately they're quite large.

As with all things political and international, we now tend to look back on it with a very simplistic explanation in mind. In the case of Israel, people tend to either see a long-awaited homeland for the persecuted Jews or a conspiracy with more than a few religious overtones. On the other hand, we can see that the situation in Israel today certainly involves a great deal of injustice. The most contentious issues, as far as I can tell, mostly do have religious implications. The settlers, for example, appear to believe that their actions are justified because "God" gave them the land. In return, there appears to be a large number of Muslim fanatics who respond to this with ludicrous conspiracy theories about Satan controlling the Jews controlling America persecuting "God's" chosen people. From this, it is concluded that blowing up busses full of commuters or flying planes into buildings are good and moral things to do. ---------------- nobody is innocent in Israel. The jews deserved a homeland after the Holocaust. The palestinians were displaced and continue to be shoved out. If we had just given Florida to the jews, none of this would have happened but your conservative pals woudn't want a bunch of 'Christ Killers' on our soil.
