dude, you're right...it is a circle. The John Birchers are paleocons. Most leftists are not pro-western/globalization. You're projecting. You may be pro-west/globalization, but that's not the status quo of the left today.

It's definitely a circle...your palecons like Buchanon are pro-labor, anti-globalization, and have a lot in common with the left. Then you have your neocons like Reagan, Horowitz, Wolfowitz, who are former liberals, but became pro-Israel right-wingers.
