Impossible! Shooting in Australia!

What the fucking H?

I thought Australia was a model for the world on how Draconian gun laws are the answer. How could this happen? Australians should all be safe and comfy and never die because their gun laws are brilliant.

Australian police probing terror links in Sydney police HQ shooting | Reuters

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian police said on Saturday they believe the shooting of a police worker by a 15-year-old boy in Sydney on Friday was politically motivated and linked to "terrorism".

The gunman was shot dead by police on Friday afternoon after gunning down a worker at close range as he was leaving the headquarters of the New South Wales Police, police and witnesses said.

Police said they had identified the gunman as a 15-year-old of Iraqi-Kurdish background who had been born in Iran.

Also...don't think for a second that this incident changes the fact that allowing hordes of Middle Eastern "refugees" to enter a country is a fabulous idea. These are wonderful, hard working, law abiding people who we should welcome with open arms and open wallets.

To suggest otherwise would be racist and xenophobic. Don't dare go there.

Here's the thing about gun laws in Australia.

We still have guns, we still have violence and we still have crime. What we don't have is concealed weapons, automatic or semi automatic weapons.

A kid terrorist kills one person before he is shot.

Last year another kid terrorist attacked 2 cops with a knife. Wasn't taught about not taking a knife to a gun fight and he lost.

The difference is how much damage one person can do with a gun and we haven't had 1 single mass shooting since Port Arthur in 1996 which was the reason for our law change.

Please stop talking common sense. You'll anger the dumb asses of this board. The ones that don't understand gun control works everywhere else in the world but yet America refuses to adapt.

The shooting took place outside one of the most heavily armed police stations in Australia, Parramatta. All cops in the building had been on a wear at all times warning with guns.

Which is kind of the argument we have here, more guns do not mean more safety if someone is intent on killing. More guns just means more domestic and petty crime homicides.

The shooting was just a random cowardly act by a gullible teen. How he got the weapon, what his motivation was and the age old of question of Why? will hopefully be answered.

Reality is its all to late.

RIP: Curtis Cheng

Do you have a brain? The point of guns in the USA is to stop tyranny. It forces the governmwnt to listen to the will of the people.

An America without guns is scary. The chance of a dictatorship would destroy the world. If you don't get why this was put into the constitution you have 0 hope.

PS i dont even like guns. But i understand the extreme importance of why a society like the USA needs them.

You really have no idea how bizarre that sounds to those of us that actually live in an advanced democracy.

The number of Prime Ministers Australia has churned through in the last few years (right or wrong) kinda proves you don't need to be armed to keep a government in check.

If the Aborigines had used guns in 1776 just like America did then they'd be free proud people now.

Wow. You're scraping the bottom of the barrel when your argument is based on an alternate reality.

You arguing gun laws or the treatment of original inhabitants? How did that go in North America?

Indians were not original. They migrated here just like everyone else. Besides, 97% of them were wiped out by plague anf killing each other before the USA was the USA.

Yes because a democracy has never been toppled by a dictator. Are you fucking stupid?

"Kinda proves" what? How do you "kinda prove" something? How low is your IQ?

So in your small stupid brain you believe that just because prime ministers changed hands few times. It somhow superceeds history which proves that armed groups or a dictator can and will take over a weak population.

Get your head out of the sand. If you dont understand why there is a second amendment in the USA there is 0 hope for you.

The entire revolution was won because of an armed population. Seriously grow a brain.

Fill us all in, who all are you speaking for then? What makes your government an advanced democracy? What makes another a simple democracy? What makes you think your advanced democracy is better than? Because you passed a gun law? And you were addressing a Canadian.

Ya you obviously have paranoia of reading history books. Anyone who speaks like you lives in a complete dream world.

People like you do not deserve freedom. You do not understand your responsibility in protecting it. Everything for people like you is an imaginary fairy tale world where everyone holds hands and sings koombayah. Youre disgusting.

Right. More fuckwad insults from an elitist dumbfuck. If you cant back up your snarky bullshit then shut the fuck up with your fuckwad better than US advanced democracy bullshit. And I couldn't give 1 single fuck if you confuse my asking you to support your wild exclamations of advanced democracy with being angry.

as you can see by my post to you, i respectfully replied to your comment, and i did so with no need to try to make personal insults.

and i certainly didn't need to make up stupid shit in order to try and make a personal insult about you simply because you clarified your view.

Serious questions,

Where do you live? City, suburb, rural/country?

Since I know you hate police and they never prevent crime anyway, what are your plans when the criminal element eventually makes your house or family their target?

Just curious.

You're right, speaking out against cops who shoot people running from them must mean I hate the cops.

As much as you come to their defense you must think 90% of the population hates the police.

You have better odds of dying in a car crash than someone breaking in your house when you're home, do you live in constant fear of that too?

You have better odds of dying in a car crash than someone breaking in your house when you're home, do you live in constant fear of that too?

Why deflect and change the subject? I notice you didn't answer any of the questions? Didn't think you would. What is your plan? Seriously. I don't live in fear of anything, but I do try too be prepared, like when you put on your seatbelt are you afraid of dying that day? Or just prepared?

*Twenty-six percent of Americans say they or another member of their household were the victim of some type of property or physical crime in the last 12 months, ranging from theft to sexual assault, according to Gallup's index of crime victimization.

* 17% of all Florida adults are convicted felons.

Matter of time my friend, matter of time.

I live in a private gated community in Tampa. I don't worry about anything but I prepare for everything.

You have never once answered my questions. Where do you live? What are your plans for the inevitable encounter between you, your family, your household when confronted with, how would you phrase this, socially disenfranchised individuals looking to have non-consexual sex or increase their net worth?

You live in a gated community and you still feel a need to arm yourself not only in your own home but when you leave your house? Shit man, I would move. That's a hell of a way to live.

I live in Evergreen, Colorado. No gated community and rarely you'll even find our door locked. Inevitable? Doubt it. I've been on this planet almost 45 years and not once has any house I've ever lived in been broken into, nor do I know anyone who has. Not to mention the last thing a burglar wants is to break into a house where someone is home and if it did happen they would be confronted by a couple of pissed off dogs.

Of course my whacked out neighbor thinks like you do. Constantly posts pro-gun/anti-Obama shit on his facebook and still thinks Obama is coming after his guns. We worry about him much more than some random guy walking down the street. Well we used to anyway, last year the mental midget shit his pants cause a bear was going through his trash and thought he would show everyone what a big man he was and shot and killed the bear while her cubs stood by and watched. He was charged with multiple felonies and they took his guns. His own conservative generated paranoia created a self fulfilled prophecy of the govt coming after his guns.

So having a gun in my home and when I occasionally travel makes me a nut? Or a wacko like your neighbor? I'll disagree with that. I no longer have a dog and when she was alive she was a gentle little thing. You on the other hand own 2 pissed off dogs that guard your house. Good for you!

See you HAVE taken steps to guard your family and property just not in the way I would have. I have 100% control over my handgun, with dogs not so much. But none the less good job! My best friend took the same approach.

I do hope like hell you and yours never are faced with crime. Remember though criminals go where the good shit is.

"Twenty-six percent of Americans say they or another member of their household were the victim of some type of property or physical crime in the last 12 months, ranging from theft to sexual assault"

"An estimated 3.7 million household burglaries occurred each year on average from 2003 to 2007.
In about 28% of these burglaries, a household member was present during the burglary.
In 7% of all household burglaries, a household member experienced some form of violent victimization"

This is a national study. Why is being prepared for something negative but statistically probable crazy?

This older Justice Department study printed by the New York time paints an even bleaker picture .... I'll bet newer stats are higher not lower.

"Eighty-three percent of 12-year-old children in the United States will be victims or intended victims of violent crimes at least once in their lifetimes, the Justice Department reported today. Fifty-two percent will be victims of such crimes more than once"
