I live in Evergreen, Colorado. No gated community and rarely you'll even find our door locked. Inevitable? Doubt it. I've been on this planet almost 45 years and not once has any house I've ever lived in been broken into, nor do I know anyone who has. Not to mention the last thing a burglar wants is to break into a house where someone is home and if it did happen they would be confronted by a couple of pissed off dogs.

Of course my whacked out neighbor thinks like you do. Constantly posts pro-gun/anti-Obama shit on his facebook and still thinks Obama is coming after his guns. We worry about him much more than some random guy walking down the street. Well we used to anyway, last year the mental midget shit his pants cause a bear was going through his trash and thought he would show everyone what a big man he was and shot and killed the bear while her cubs stood by and watched. He was charged with multiple felonies and they took his guns. His own conservative generated paranoia created a self fulfilled prophecy of the govt coming after his guns.

So having a gun in my home and when I occasionally travel makes me a nut? Or a wacko like your neighbor? I'll disagree with that. I no longer have a dog and when she was alive she was a gentle little thing. You on the other hand own 2 pissed off dogs that guard your house. Good for you!

See you HAVE taken steps to guard your family and property just not in the way I would have. I have 100% control over my handgun, with dogs not so much. But none the less good job! My best friend took the same approach.

I do hope like hell you and yours never are faced with crime. Remember though criminals go where the good shit is.

"Twenty-six percent of Americans say they or another member of their household were the victim of some type of property or physical crime in the last 12 months, ranging from theft to sexual assault"

"An estimated 3.7 million household burglaries occurred each year on average from 2003 to 2007.
In about 28% of these burglaries, a household member was present during the burglary.
In 7% of all household burglaries, a household member experienced some form of violent victimization"
